Chapter 1065 — A Formidable Way

The bald man in sunglasses likewise turned gloomy. He had not expected Wei Zhao to be so formidable — the man seemed to be a real hand at this. A shadow flickered through his eyes, though the sunglasses concealed it; no one could see the change in his expression.
Watching Wei Zhao kick his car away, the bald man did not keep cursing, nor did he get out to settle the score; instead he sank into thought.
This man — could he be Feng Xiaoxiao's bodyguard? The situation was getting rather complicated.
When the onlooking men and women saw that the bald man in sunglasses had his car kicked by Yang Zhao yet made no response at all, still huddled inside the car without moving, they immediately burst into mocking laughter.
This was naked provocation — his car had been kicked, and he did not even dare squeak a word. Was this still a man?
"Spineless wretch!"
"Too pathetic. With that kind of nerve, he still comes out to put on a show?"
"Where did all that courage go? Weren't you calling him a pretty boy? Dare you say it one more time?"
"Exactly, who's the pretty boy? That man's got rugged good looks. Sure, you've got a big bald head and look fierce enough, but it's no use — you're the soft-boiled pretty boy!"
"Sure enough, 2B is just you!"
Facing the jeers of the crowd, the bald man in sunglasses was about ready to explode with rage, but he held it in. This was no time for anger. The chance had been hard-won; he could not let his fury ruin this race.
Wei Zhao glanced mildly at the bald man in the Range Rover, a faint, almost imperceptible smile flickering at the corner of his mouth. The man's odd behavior had already roused Wei Zhao's suspicion — he had kicked the man's car, and the man had shown no reaction whatsoever. That was not how a normal person behaved.
Moreover, it did not quite match the arrogant temperament the bald man had displayed earlier.
Wei Zhao's suspicion left the bald man in sunglasses deeply frustrated. He could see the doubt in Wei Zhao's eyes, yet there was nothing he could do about it.
Earlier, to make himself look more like a small-time thug who had come here to race, he had resorted to the usual tricks and tone small-time thugs used when teasing girls — all to blend into this crowd.
But he had never imagined that the man beside Feng Xiaoxiao would be so overbearing, getting out to kick his car over a few sharp words. The man was a thoroughgoing savage. The bald man in sunglasses wondered inwardly: where had Feng Xiaoxiao found this fellow? How was he so ferocious?
But it was too late for regret now. The bald man in sunglasses did not want a confrontation with Wei Zhao at this moment. If the two of them came to blows before the race, it would inevitably affect the race that was about to start — and if the organizers called the race off or split them into separate heats, that was the last thing he wanted to see.
This opportunity had been hard-won; Feng Xiaoxiao had finally stumbled into his area of strength, and he was not about to give it up. Being doubted and jeered now did not matter, so long as the race proceeded normally and he achieved his aim.
Fortunately, after Wei Zhao glanced at him and saw that he would not get out, Wei Zhao paid him no more attention, and instead opened the door on Feng Xiaoxiao's side and let her out.
Looking at the Range Rover beside her, Feng Xiaoxiao frowned as well. The Range Rover's engine displacement was more than double that of her Audi — racing a car like that, was she not just waiting to lose? And this stretch of mountain road had gone unrepaired for years, which gave the Range Rover every advantage, while the Audi on such a course was plainly at a considerable disadvantage.
"Wei Zhao, hubby, why don't we ask to swap into another race? His car..." Feng Xiaoxiao glanced at the bald man's Range Rover and spoke with some worry.
