"Yes... As for this matter, Zhaolong, you make the preparations. We must make Guan Daifu Pharmaceuticals' name stink to high heaven!" the Miracle Doctor Kang said to Kang Jinglong. "Draw up a plan and let me see it."
"Yes, Grandfather!" Kang Jinglong nodded and agreed. Schemes and intrigues were his strong suit; he would certainly make Guan Daifu Pharmaceuticals' reputation crumble. This was not only a matter of how the old man saw him—it also concerned the fact that the Kang family would one day be his, Kang Jinglong's, and he had to strangle this rival Guan Xuewen in the cradle! He could not let them steal his family's market share and standing!
"By the way, Grandfather, Guan Xin is already engaged. What are we to do about that? The old method won't work anymore—the girl has a betrothal, so how could she possibly still make friends with me?" Kang Jingming laid all his failure at the feet of Guan Xin's engagement, though the rest of the Kang family knew nothing of the details and would never doubt Kang Jingming's ability to charm the ladies.
"That was an oversight on our part! Who would have thought Guan Xin was already engaged? As things stand, the prescription for the Longevity Detox Pill will indeed be hard to get!" The Miracle Doctor Kang knitted his brows at Kang Jingming's words. He knew well that a well-bred young lady like Guan Xin could never carry on overly intimate contact with another man once betrothed, so the family's earlier plan to steal the formula was clearly a dead end!
Yet for the Miracle Doctor Kang to simply give up left him unwilling to accept it! After all, this prescription could be the stepping stone to elevating the Kang family to the rank of a great clan, could lift the family's strength to yet another level and send them soaring to a higher station!
"Indeed, I failed to investigate thoroughly before acting rashly! Fortunately we didn't alert them—otherwise it would be even harder now!" Kang Jingming was no fool. Fearing his grandfather's blame, he readily admitted his mistake: "I've let everyone down!"
"Grandfather, this isn't Zhaoming's fault either!" Kang Jinglong now naturally had to display the magnanimity befitting the third generation's leader. True, Zhaoming had failed to investigate thoroughly, but who could have guessed Guan Xin would turn out to be engaged? So Kang Jinglong said, "Such a thing is beyond anyone's control. Fortunately Zhaoming did brilliantly—he got us the prescription for Guan Daifu's trauma medicine!"
"Zhaolong speaks truly. Zhaoming, there's no need to belittle yourself—you've done very well. As for the Longevity Detox Pill, we'll think of another way!" said the Miracle Doctor Kang.
"Rest assured, Grandfather. If there's nothing else, I'll head back to Songshan City and keep looking for ways to sound them out. As for operating funds, I'll have to rely on the family's support..." Kang Jingming lived the high life in Songshan City, free of family supervision, so as soon as he had delivered the prescription he was ready to go back.
"That's no problem. I'll give you another million for operating expenses—if it's not enough, tell me! So long as we can get the prescription for the Longevity Detox Pill, no amount of money is too much," said the Miracle Doctor Kang. "By the way, as for that supply channel—you'll need to put more work into it. If we can gain control of Guan Xuewen's raw material supply, we can seal that road off entirely. Then let's see what they have left to sell! What use is a prescription with nothing to make it from?"
"Understood!" Kang Jingming nodded and replied.

Wei Zhao sat on the sofa with the young lady and Shen Yushu, watching Pleasant Goat and Big Big Wolf. He simply could not understand how, at their age, the young lady and Shen Yushu could enjoy something made for little children.
