Chapter 832 — Once I Show My Power, You're Done

The Blossom Guardian · Page 1 of 2

Zhen Yingjun had been playing billiards for years, but he had never seen anything like this. This wasn't billiards at all—it was practically a bouncy ball. No matter how hard a player struck a billiard ball, you could never get an effect like that out of it, could you?

Gu Mengyao, too, looked in surprise at the unruly ball on the table, then raised her head to look at Shen Yushu. Seeing that Shen Yushu was also strangely excited, Gu Mengyao understood at once that this was not something Xiao Shu had done herself. After so many years as sisters, they could tell each other's thoughts from a single expression. She could not see through Xiao Shu completely, but those trivial surface thoughts, at least, Gu Mengyao could still read.

Then she turned to look at Wei Zhao and saw the wry smile on his face. She paused for a moment, and a thought stirred in her mind. Could it be Wei Zhao who had pulled some trick? Xiao Shu had played for a long time just now without producing anything like this "superball." How could it appear the moment Wei Zhao arrived?

At that thought, a thoughtful expression came over Gu Mengyao's face.

Gu Mengyao's guess was right—it was indeed Wei Zhao's doing. Wei Zhao himself was not at all sure how to help Gu Mengyao and Shen Yushu win. He was only experimenting.

The first thing Wei Zhao thought of was that strange "true qi" of his, the energy Old Man Jiao had spoken of. Since this energy was all-powerful, could it be transferred into a billiard ball? According to the law of conservation of energy, energy can neither be created out of nothing nor vanish without a trace. It can only be transformed from one form into another, or transferred from one object to another, and in the process of transformation or transfer, the total amount of energy remains constant.

In other words, it was entirely possible for the energy in Wei Zhao's body to become the kinetic energy needed to make a billiard ball move. Of course, the energy in Wei Zhao's body had not appeared from nowhere, and the true qi of any expert master was not born out of thin air either.

Their true qi came from the spiritual energy of heaven and earth in nature, and the mental formulas and secret incantations they cultivated were merely a method for converting that spiritual energy into their own true qi. What they accomplished was a process of transforming the energy of the natural world into the energy of the body.

Wei Zhao's energy, on the other hand, came entirely from the jade pendant space. It was there that he had converted the energy inside it into energy of his own.

So after Shen Yushu set the ball in motion, Wei Zhao decided to test whether his energy could really be put to use by the ball. He braced both hands on the edge of the billiard table and activated the Xuanyuan Dragon-Commanding Art. In an instant, as if it had been injected with chicken blood, the billiard ball suddenly grew incomparably powerful and exploded with the force of an erupting little universe...

It really worked! However, because this was Wei Zhao's first attempt, he had not controlled how much energy he sent out. In a single flash, too much of it passed through. How much energy could a tiny billiard ball consume as it moved? The slightest bit would have been enough. Wei Zhao sent far too much, so naturally the ball kept moving without end.

Still, although this experiment had been something of a failure, it confirmed that Wei Zhao's method was feasible. What was even more gratifying was that his energy acted only on objects that were already consuming energy. The other billiard balls lying still on the table, and the table itself, did not absorb any.

As for the balls that had afterward been knocked into motion by that "superball," they had not absorbed any energy either, because Wei Zhao had stopped running his mental formula early on. The energy had thus acted on that one ball alone.
