Chapter 782 — I Want to Report a Crime

The Blossom Guardian · Page 2 of 2

At that thought, Qiu Lingshan felt profoundly hard done by, and she glared at Yu Xiaoke. "Yu Xiaoke, I never thought you'd finally fail to get away after all, did you? In the end you've still fallen into my hands!"

"Uh... Sister Lingshan, I'm the whistleblower here. Without me, you couldn't have caught this many members of the thief gang, could you..." As Yu Xiaoke spoke, her eyes were darting everywhere, searching for any possible direction of escape.

Seeing that Wei Zhao actually knew Qiu Lingshan, Yu Xiaoke realized she could no longer count on him for help. She could only pin her hopes on herself now, and she meant to see whether she could find a chance to slip away.

"The whistleblower? But isn't this Black Bird here a whistleblower too? And isn't he reporting you?" Qiu Lingshan was not moved in the slightest. Yu Xiaoke was a criminal, and it was naturally her duty to bring her to justice.

Yu Xiaoke had in fact long been on file at the police station. Many rich and powerful people had come to file reports after being pickpocketed—or even beaten—by her, and Qiu Lingshan had taken these cases quite seriously, having laid on several operations to capture Yu Xiaoke. Who would have thought that Yu Xiaoke's qinggong was so superb that she had slipped through their fingers every time!

Even Qiu Lingshan herself, a Yellow-Rank expert, could not keep up with Yu Xiaoke's qinggong. Her lightness skill seemed to be a unique art of her own; there was no telling how high her martial arts really were, but she ran far faster than anyone else.

Yu Xiaoke's reputation was far greater than that of the thief gangs, and for good reason: she made a point of robbing only those rich men who were rich without virtue, and such people were invariably wealthy and powerful. Once something happened to them, they would naturally go to the police station to file reports and bring pressure to bear, and over time Yu Xiaoke had become a key target of police attention.

And when these rich people filed their reports, naturally they never mentioned what they themselves had done to bring the theft upon them; they simply directed all their resentment at Yu Xiaoke. Qiu Lingshan, for her part, was not clear on Yu Xiaoke's motives for her crimes, and so she too regarded Yu Xiaoke as a thief who preyed specifically on the rich.

"This... ah, fine. Sister Lingshan, I admit defeat this time. I'll come with you..." Yu Xiaoke's face fell, and she hung her head, walking slowly toward Qiu Lingshan as though turning herself in of her own accord.

But before she had even finished speaking, Yu Xiaoke's steps suddenly changed. She darted swiftly around Qiu Lingshan and ran off in the direction behind her! Yu Xiaoke had already scouted the terrain: behind Qiu Lingshan lay the path that Wei Zhao had cleared earlier with Giant Deer Bro's body. If she could just run out along that path, there was a chance she might break through—after all, the police were all busy stuffing members of the thief gang into the squad cars, and few of them would likely notice her. By the time they did notice, they ought to be caught flat-footed.

"Where do you think you're going!" Qiu Lingshan gave a cold laugh and struck a palm straight at Yu Xiaoke's back.

Qiu Lingshan had crossed paths with Yu Xiaoke any number of times, so how could she not know in her heart exactly what sort of person Yu Xiaoke was? When Yu Xiaoke said she would admit defeat, Qiu Lingshan did not believe it for one in ten thousand. Yu Xiaoke was cunning to the core; so long as even a thread of possibility remained, she would flee for all she was worth. How could she ever willingly admit defeat?

So Qiu Lingshan had long since been on her guard. Once Yu Xiaoke drew near, Qiu Lingshan had already gathered her qi and raised her arm, ready to wound her and then take her down. That was the only way to be certain she could bring Yu Xiaoke smoothly back to the police station.
