Chapter 748 — Giving You Some Benefits

"Perhaps so," Qiu Lingshan nodded, and dialed Wei Zhao's number.
Wei Zhao had just finished seeing Zhong Yongliang and had only gotten a short way from the ward when he received Qiu Lingshan's call. "What is it?"
"Liu Bojia has woken up. He wants to see you," Qiu Lingshan said.
"Wants to see me? What for?" Wei Zhao could not figure out what business Liu Bojia could possibly have with him.
"He says he wants to thank you—to give you some benefits," Qiu Lingshan said. "Earlier he talked about giving you twenty million as a reward, but then he heard from me that you're a doctor, so he said he wanted to meet you and give you some benefits instead."
"Oh?" Wei Zhao was rather puzzled. What benefits could Liu Bojia possibly give him? Still, if there were benefits to be had, he had no reason to decline—he had saved the man's life twice and gotten nothing for it so far!
So he asked, "Is he still in the hospital?"
"Yes, in the same ward as before," Qiu Lingshan said. "Where are you?"
"I'm at the hospital too. I'll come over now." With that, Wei Zhao hung up.
He then sent a short message to the young mistress and Shen Yushu, telling them that he had some other business at the hospital and would not be riding back to school with them, and that the two of them should go on ahead.
"Yao-yao, why is Arrow Brand Brother so busy every day?" Shen Yushu felt that Wei Zhao was always rushing about, busy with one thing or another.
"I don't know. Maybe he was never a servant at all—maybe his turning up at the villa was nothing but a twist of fate..." Gu Mengyao found that she understood Wei Zhao less and less, from the migrant worker who first came to the city to the mysterious expert he was now...
"Oh. Then will he really leave, in the future?" Shen Yushu was a little crestfallen.
"He will, probably... We've grown up too. We need to learn to protect ourselves, and we shouldn't always be troubling others..." Gu Mengyao looked out the window, toward the direction in which Wei Zhao had vanished, a faint melancholy in her heart.
"Yao-yao, but I don't want to grow up," Shen Yushu shook her head.
"Want to or not, you have to. You're not little anymore!" Gu Mengyao pinched Shen Yushu's cheek. "See? I can pinch you now and you don't even cry, so you're not a child anymore."
"Wahhh... I'm crying..." Shen Yushu cried.
"..." Gu Mengyao ignored her and turned away, lost in thought.
Wei Zhao found Qiu Lingshan and Chen Yuxuan at the door of Liu Bojia's ward.
"Wei Zhao!" Qiu Lingshan walked over to meet him. "You're here? Liu Bojia just said he wanted to rest a while—shall I go check on him?"
"No need. I'll just go in." Wei Zhao shook his head. Rest? Liu Bojia had been resting for so many days already; by now he was probably feeling quite energetic.
Seeing him say this, Qiu Lingshan did not press the matter—since Wei Zhao was doing it this way, he surely had his reasons.
Wei Zhao pushed the door open and walked into Liu Bojia's ward. Sure enough, Liu Bojia was not resting at all, but writing and sketching something on a piece of paper. Seeing Wei Zhao come in, he could not help but start. "Who are you?"
"You were looking for me?" Wei Zhao did not answer Liu Bojia's question, but asked one of his own.
"So you're the one who saved my life twice?" Liu Bojia was no fool either, and immediately guessed Wei Zhao's identity.
Wei Zhao nodded. "That's me."
"I'm a man who repays his debts," Liu Bojia said with a nod. He did not doubt Wei Zhao's identity in the least. Though Wei Zhao looked absurdly young, Liu Bojia, who had always made his living by skill, well understood that ability does not wait on age. If Wei Zhao could be standing here, it meant the police had cleared him; and if he was not the man who had saved Liu Bojia's life, then who was?
"Ha. I'm not the sort who saves people for free, either." Wei Zhao shrugged. "If Qiu Lingshan hadn't pestered me about it, I wouldn't have come to save you at all."
