After Wei Zhao and the others finished their meal, Fatso Lai was about to settle the bill, but upon asking, he learned that Baldy Boss Wu had already paid it. Fatso Lai did not protest further, knowing this was Wei Zhao's doing, and made arrangements to treat them next time.
He also did not want to keep trailing after Wei Zhao and intruding on him, so he hailed a taxi at the restaurant entrance and left on his own. Wei Zhao drove Mother Tang back to the hospital first. She had just bought a house, so naturally she wanted to take the floor plans and discuss them with Tang Jucheng.
Wei Zhao, meanwhile, returned to the school with Tang Zhi.
"Thank you for today!" Tang Zhi said to Wei Zhao as she got out of the car.
"What's all this thanks between us?" Wei Zhao smiled. "You still owe me a kiss, don't you? When are you going to make good on it?"
Tang Zhi's face went red at once. Thinking back, she had agreed to it before, and it seemed she really had never made good on it. She had meant to put him off, but then she suddenly remembered what Shen Yushu had said — that both she and Gu Mengyao had kissed Wei Zhao — and Tang Zhi felt a flare of indignation! She was Wei Zhao's girlfriend, and she had never even kissed him, yet someone else had beaten her to it?
So Tang-mm glanced nervously around, and seeing that no one seemed to be about, she quickly pecked Wei Zhao on the cheek, then said in a fluster, "There. Paid back."
"That doesn't count as a kiss, does it?" Wei Zhao said, rather amused.
"Why doesn't it? I say it counts, so it counts." It had taken no small effort for Tang Zhi to bring herself to do even that much.
"Ha, all right then, we'll call it even." Wei Zhao touched the cheek Tang Zhi had kissed. It felt... not bad, actually?
Still, why did it feel about the same as when Xiaoshu kissed him?
Of course, Wei Zhao did not dare say that aloud. If he did, Tang Zhi would kick him to death.
The two of them were both at a loss for what to do next when they heard a startled cry!
"Wow, so this is where you two snuck off to instead of going to class — hiding out here kissing?" Liu Xinlan came running up, panting, her voice at full volume.
She had spotted Wei Zhao's car passing her from far off earlier, but she had called out to him and he had not heard. So Liu Xinlan had given chase, running all the way to the snack street behind the school, and then she had seen Tang Zhi give Wei Zhao a kiss on the cheek!
So Liu Xinlan, as if she had stumbled on a scoop, came running over at once.
"Xinwen, what nonsense are you talking? Who was kissing?" Of course Tang Zhi would not admit to what she had just done — not to Liu Xinlan, either. If Liu Xinlan knew, then everyone would know.
"Am I seeing things, then? I distinctly saw you kiss Wei Zhao!" Liu Xinlan was not so easily fooled.
"We were just whispering secrets!" Tang Zhi glared at Liu Xinlan. "You and your fuss over nothing! What are you doing out here instead of in the classroom?"
"It's lunch break right now! You weren't at school either, and it was no fun being there all by myself, so I was just wandering around the school gate, and then I suddenly saw Wei Zhao's car go by. I called out to you both and you didn't hear me, so I ran after you!" Liu Xinlan said.
