"All right, the dishes are all here. I wanted to say a few words of thanks, but I'm actually not very good with words—Wei Zhao knows, I don't talk much..." Gu Mengyao wanted to say something before the meal, but she rarely spoke up on occasions like this, so she didn't know what to say either. Before she could finish, however, she saw Shen Yushu secretly picking up a piece of shark meat and about to put it in her mouth. Furious, Gu Mengyao smacked Shen Yushu's hand with her chopsticks and knocked the shark meat into her bowl. "Xiaoshu! What are you doing?"
"I just wanted to taste whether it's good..." Shen Yushu said with a mournful face, rubbing her wrist. "Oh, you nearly crippled me..."
"How can you eat before the guests have eaten?" Gu Mengyao scolded.
"How was I supposed to know? At home I'm always the first to eat..." Shen Yushu said weakly.
"It's all right, let her eat..." Seeing how pitiful Shen Yushu looked, Tang Zhi stopped Gu Mengyao from losing her temper. In truth, Tang Zhi had no rules of her own to speak of; who ate first didn't matter to her.
"I'm sorry... this Xiaoshu..." Gu Mengyao rubbed her temples. "Living with her, you need a remarkably strong constitution -- mentally speaking."
Tang Zhi shook her head. Shen Yushu was indeed a bit of a trickster imp, but living with her ought to bring its share of amusement; everything had two sides. However, the thought was promptly cast to the back of Tang Zhi's mind! Living with Shen Yushu? Did that mean actually letting her become Wei Zhao's little wife?
Shen Yushu went back to the shark meat, but after a single bite she shook her head. "Not nearly as good as what Arrow-Shield Bro makes!"
"Wei Zhao can't be at your side for the rest of your life! You need to learn to adapt!" Gu Mengyao shot Shen Yushu a hard glare as she spoke.
Shen Yushu fell silent, head bowed as she continued working through the shark meat, and the atmosphere grew somewhat heavy.
Tang Zhi did not know what to say either. Looking at Shen Yushu's pitiful expression, she had no way of consoling her. Was Wei Zhao supposed to be her personal servant for the rest of her life? And what would become of herself?
Although Gu Mengyao did her utmost to keep the mood at the table light, the harder she tried, the more eerie the atmosphere became. Tang Zhi felt uncomfortable as well; she was coming to see that Gu Mengyao and Shen Yushu were truly two formidable rivals.
