Moreover, Wu Chengtian's words said a great deal. His only true brother was Kang Jinglong — what did that mean? That the Kang and Wu families were this close?
Yu Haitian had not had much contact with Wu Chengtian, so naturally he did not know that this fellow was in truth a spoiled child — strong in martial arts, perhaps, but impulsive by nature.
In Yu Haitian's eyes, Wu Chengtian was already a fine hand of the early Yellow Rank despite his youth, and his future prospects were surely boundless. Such a man was unquestionably the cream of the Wu family's third generation, a man of the future — so his words, naturally, represented the Wu family's will!
How could Yu Haitian know that Wu Chengtian was indeed a Yellow Rank expert, but having become one so young, he could hardly avoid being arrogant and conceited, looking down on everyone, spoiled by Wu Gonggao since childhood, and that his way of solving problems was single-minded: force! So he had no cunning at all, and was being used by Kang Jinglong without even knowing it.
"Heh, since even Young Master Wu supports it, there is no great obstacle left to the Kang family becoming a great house!" Yu Haitian laughed. "Of course, since our Yu family has nominated the Kangs, we naturally support them as well!"
"In that case, I thank you!" Seeing his goal achieved, Divine Doctor Kang said no more. After a few more pleasantries with Yu Haitian, he went off to discuss the evening's auction with the auction house staff.
Kang Jinglong, meanwhile, went to dine with Wu Chengtian. With a connection like this, if he did not strike while the iron was hot and seize it firmly, he would not be Kang Jinglong! These past two days, Kang Jinglong had truly realized the planning and leap forward of the first goal of his life!
By feigning a heartfelt confession, he had pulled the wool over his grandfather's eyes, successfully secured the Wu family connection, and brought the Kang family's elevation to great-house status to the point where it was all but nailed down! How could Kang Jinglong not be delighted?
His only regret was that he was somewhat reluctant to let go of Wang Xinyan. But there was no help for it — this Wang Xinyan was not someone to be toyed with and then cast aside; doing so would surely bring trouble down on the Kang family! Though the Xiao family had fallen on hard times, a starved camel was still bigger than a horse, and Kang Jinglong had no wish to drag the Kang family into any trouble.
Never mind. A flower like this — who knew what worthless bastard would get her in the end! Kang Jinglong shook his head, went off to enjoy himself with Wu Chengtian, and put the matter of Wang Xinyan straight out of his mind.
But this left Wang Xinyan in peace. With Kang Jinglong's harassment gone, her life returned to normal.
Not long after Kang the Divine Physician had left, Yu Haitian was in the middle of discussing the Kang family affair with his second uncle when his trusted subordinate called again.
Yu Haitian frowned. Why was there so much happening today? Still, he picked up the phone.
"What is it? I'm busy right now." Yu Haitian stated his situation first, the meaning plain enough: if it was nothing important, it could wait.
"Mr. Yu, Mr. Lai Changshan of Guanda Medicine, Professor Guan Xuewen, and a young gentleman have arrived and wish to see you," his trusted subordinate reported.
"Oh? Guan the physician is here too?" Yu Haitian was taken aback. What was going on today? He had just seen off Kang the Divine Physician, and now here came Guan the physician! Today he seemed fated to keep company with divine physicians!
