Chapter 466 — Wei Zhao Makes His Move
The Blossom Guardian · Page 2 of 2
The shark was finished off by Wei Zhao with dispatch. The most shocked of all were Zhong Yongliang and Feng Xiaoxiao. Zhong Yongliang had not expected Wei Zhao to deal with a shark so easily—and he had actually made an enemy of him...
Feng Xiaoxiao, too, was shocked by the sheer strength of Wei Zhao's ability. Watching his movements, there was no sloppiness about them at all; such a man was indeed worth Gu Pengzhan's paying a high price to hire.
As for the other students in the class, the precedent of Shen Yushu killing a shark earlier with a single cobblestone had already led most of them to believe that sharks could be killed quite easily, so they felt no particular shock at Wei Zhao's killing another shark.
"You wanted to get me killed!" Feng Xiaoxiao came to her senses, and the first thing she did was lash out a kick at Zhong Yongliang, landing it squarely in his crotch and sending him howling in agony, his eyes rolling back as he nearly toppled into the sea!
Feng Xiaoxiao had put all her strength into that kick; she was furious beyond measure. Zhong Yongliang had practically committed robbery and murder—luring the shark over to bite her, what difference was there between that and outright murder?
So Feng Xiaoxiao showed no mercy at all; if she had kicked Zhong Yongliang to death, he would only have deserved it.
Zhong Yongliang knew he was in the wrong. After the kick, though the pain was unbearable, he still clutched his crotch and cautiously made his way back to shore, where he sat on the sand, too pained to speak, his face ashen. Gao Xiaofu hurried over to console him.
By now, no one in the class pitied Zhong Yongliang anymore, for what he had done earlier was simply too low—it had sunk to the level of sheer meanness. Unable to beat the shark himself, he had drawn the shark toward someone else! Was that not a bit too vicious?
One could well imagine: if the person in the sea at that moment had not been Feng Xiaoxiao but someone else, would Zhong Yongliang have lured the shark over just the same? And had Wei Zhao not appeared in the nick of time, would that person in the water have ended up food for the fish?
"Silly girl, why didn't you run just now?" Wei Zhao was rather vexed by Feng Xiaoxiao's failure to flee. If she had run, he would not have had to go into the water at all. Now he was soaked through and thoroughly uncomfortable.
"I... the bracelet my mother left me..." Only then did Feng Xiaoxiao remember that the bracelet had not yet been found. Paying no heed to the shark's blood still fouling the water, she bent down to search for it.
"What bracelet? You'd throw your life away for it?" Wei Zhao was caught between laughter and tears at her words.
"It's the keepsake my mother left me..." Feng Xiaoxiao looked at Wei Zhao a little embarrassed, yet her gaze did not falter. That bracelet meant far too much to her; she could not bear to lose it.
"A keepsake?" This time it was Wei Zhao's turn to be struck dumb. But if it truly was as Feng Xiaoxiao said, then he could understand why she would risk her life to search for the bracelet. What surprised him, though, was that Feng Xiaoxiao had no mother.
"My mother left when I was very small..." Feng Xiaoxiao shook her head, a faint trace of sorrow passing through her eyes.
Wei Zhao sighed. He had not expected Feng Xiaoxiao to have such a side to her. He reached casually into the water and felt about, then extended a hand and drew up Feng Xiaoxiao's right hand...
