Gu Mengyao and Shen Yushu returned to the classroom, watched the MP4 for a while, and then each took out their review materials and began to study. The single-plank bridge of the college entrance exam would not widen just because they were pretty, and neither of them wanted to rely on their families—they wanted to earn good results on their own.
Tang Zhi and Wei Zhao finished planting the saplings, and then Tang Zhi wanted to go back to the classroom to study. Lately Tang Zhi had been busy with her father's surgery and with the tangled mess of her feelings for Wei Zhao, and had not put much thought into her studies. If she did not buckle down now, her grades would probably start to slip.
So although Tang Zhi also wanted to spend a little more time with Wei Zhao, what if she failed to get into university?
After eating lunch in the cafeteria, Tang Zhi and Wei Zhao went to see Tang's mother at the snack street behind the school, and then each returned to their own classroom.
Feng Xiaoxiao sat in her seat eating a boxed lunch, all alone and very quiet, with no one else nearby. Wei Zhao walked over; Feng Xiaoxiao merely raised her head to glance at him, then lowered it again and went on eating by herself.
"The boxed lunches from this place aren't clean. I ate there once and found a fly in mine." Wei Zhao glanced at the brand on the lid of Feng Xiaoxiao's lunch and said with a smile.
"Pff—" Feng Xiaoxiao spat out the piece of pork rib she had just put in her mouth, then glared furiously at Wei Zhao. "Are you doing this on purpose?"
"Ha, I was just giving you a kind reminder." Wei Zhao shrugged. Sharing a desk with Feng Xiaoxiao always left him uneasy; he had to find a way to drive her off.
Feng Xiaoxiao shot Wei Zhao a resentful look. Fine, then—you brought this on yourself. I was originally a little reluctant to blow your backside into a blooming flower, but since you're so nasty, tonight I'll make sure you lose face but good. Hmph.
Around the time of evening self-study, Zhong Yongliang had everything ready and sent Feng Xiaoxiao a text message, telling her they could proceed to the next step of the plan. Feng Xiaoxiao was not worried that Wei Zhao would fail to go out and watch the fun; since both Shen Yushu and Gu Mengyao were going out, Wei Zhao, the bodyguard and tagalong, could not possibly stay behind.
Sure enough, Shen Yushu also received a text from Zhong Yongliang: "Sister Yaoyao, let's go out and get some fresh air, shall we? It's so stifling sitting in the classroom."
"Now?" Gu Mengyao frowned. She had just started a set of math mock exam questions, and before she had even worked out the answer to the first one, Shen Yushu wanted to go out?
"Yeah! I heard someone's setting off fireworks on the sports field. Let's go take a look?" said Shen Yushu.
"Fireworks? Don't tell me it's that Zhong Yongliang again?" Gu Mengyao was no fool; she guessed the gist of it at once.
"Hehe, that's right. Sister Yaoyao, are you coming or not?" Seeing that Gu Mengyao had guessed, Shen Yushu did not bother to hide it.
"I don't want to go." Gu Mengyao shook her head.
"If you don't go, I can't very well go alone, can I? It's already dark outside—it's so scary. What if I get frightened?" As she spoke, Shen Yushu grabbed at Gu Mengyao, trying to drag her out by force.
"You, get frightened?" Gu Mengyao did not believe it for a moment. "In the haunted house at the amusement park, you beat the ghosts to death."
But Shen Yushu insisted on going, and Gu Mengyao, having no choice, could only stand up and go along with her.
"Zhong Yongliang is going to set off fireworks to confess his feelings to Gu Mengyao. Aren't you going to follow along and watch?" Seeing that Wei Zhao showed no intention of getting up, Feng Xiaoxiao had to explain it to him.
"Fireworks?" Wei Zhao had assumed the two girls were just going to the restroom and had paid it no mind, but hearing Feng Xiaoxiao say this, he really did need to follow and take a look.
