Chapter 420 — Lying in Wait

The Blossom Guardian · Page 1 of 2

"All right, I'll be right there..." Zou Ruoming nodded hastily and agreed, though inwardly he was thinking how wonderful it would be if he could bring Uncle Yan along to teach Wei Zhao a lesson. With Uncle Yan making a move, beating that brat Wei Zhao would be child's play, wouldn't it?

Of course, Zou Ruoming had no idea that Brother Black Panther, now crippled and sitting in prison, had also been a Yellow-rank expert. Otherwise he would never have assumed any such thing.

Hearing the excitement in Zou Ruoming's voice, Zou Tiandi sighed faintly and hung up. He thought to himself that this youngest son of his was truly ruthless, and wondered whether his original strategy had been a mistake. If he had let the elder son study diligently and the younger son go out into the underworld, that might have been a fine choice. But the mistake was already made; all he could do now was make the best of it...

Uncle Yan did not usually carry a mobile phone, nor did he keep a telephone in his room. He was very much a recluse of the world, which was why Zou Ruoming had to go and fetch him in person. But Zou Tiandi did not mind. An expert, after all, always had something out of the ordinary about him. For a Yellow-rank expert like Uncle Yan, being a little different was only natural.

Besides, Uncle Yan had the right idea. He was a fugitive, and it made sense for him to keep to himself and avoid too much contact with the outside world, lest someone with ill intentions catch on to him.

Zou Ruoming hurried out of the school at a brisk pace, hailed a taxi, and sped straight to the suburban villa in the northern outskirts.

Uncle Yan knew Zou Ruoming. Hearing that it was Zou Tiandi's instruction, he asked no further questions. He immediately put on a hat with a low brim, and then hurried out the door with Zou Ruoming.

Uncle Yan was a Yellow-rank expert who drifted between his sect and the wider world, long engaged in robbery to raise funds for his sect. But after one job went wrong, he was wanted by the police, and was lucky enough to be saved by Zou Tiandi. So he stayed on in Songshan City, agreeing to do three things for Zou Tiandi before leaving.

He had already done two. Now came the last. Once it was done, he would be free to go and resume his robbery work.

Buzz, buzz. Zou Ruoming's phone received a message from Zou Tiandi, containing a license plate number and the model of a van.

After Zou Ruoming passed the information on to Uncle Yan, the two of them took up a position on the road in front of the police station that any car would have to pass along.

When they reached the police station, Qiu Lingshan did not make things difficult for Wei Zhao. She probably knew that Wei Zhao did not give a damn about her, and that he had only come to the station because of Tang Zhi.

So she simply took a statement from Wei Zhao and then let him and Tang Zhi go.

"Sister Lingshan's actually pretty decent. Why do you always call her... that word..." Tang Zhi was puzzled by Wei Zhao calling Qiu Lingshan a brain-dead chick. Wei Zhao was far too bold, wasn't he? He actually dared to call Qiu Lingshan a brain-dead chick, and the strangest part was that although Qiu Lingshan got angry, she never talked back.

"Hah, she's too much trouble. Always coming to me for help with one thing or another." Wei Zhao shrugged and said no more on the subject. Suddenly the jade pendant at his chest throbbed twice. Wei Zhao's expression changed, and he slowed the car. "There's danger!"

"Danger?" Tang Zhi was startled, but before she could ask anything, a figure drifted over and came to a stop not far in front of Wei Zhao's car.

Early Yellow-rank? Wei Zhao's heart stirred slightly as he instantly discerned the other's level of strength, though he could not tell why an early Yellow-rank expert would turn up here.
