Chapter 387 — So You're Still Watching

The Blossom Guardian · Page 1 of 2

Yet Mighty General seemed rather clever, and professionally trained at that. A single gesture from Wei Zhao, and it came trotting over, tail wagging with all its might.

Though Mighty General was afraid of Wei Zhao deep down, it dared not show it, and could only put on a look of great joy and delight. In its heart it felt that Wei Zhao might butcher it and eat its meat at any moment!

Wei Zhao led Mighty General to the courtyard. Without wasting words, he placed the treasure map Shen Yushu had drawn right in front of it, pointed at the map, and then revealed a cold smile.

Mighty General felt a chill rise from the bottom of its heart, every hair on its body standing on end. That feeling of being butchered and eaten was now stronger than ever!

Yet Mighty General dared not run. It was certain that if it fled, Wei Zhao had a hundred percent chance of catching it, and its fate would only be all the more gruesome!

So, trembling with fear, Mighty General looked toward the treasure map in Wei Zhao's hand. At a glance, it found something familiar about it, and it roughly understood what Wei Zhao meant.

It had to be admitted — this dog's intelligence was really quite high. Seeing that Mighty General understood his meaning, Wei Zhao said nothing more and simply sat there playing with the Luoyang shovel.

Mighty General was sweating even harder, terrified that if Wei Zhao took a dislike to something, one swing of the shovel and its head would be gone. It hurriedly rose and began searching and confirming around the courtyard. Naturally, to keep Wei Zhao from misunderstanding, it dared not walk too fast — what if Wei Zhao took it for trying to run off?

Mighty General's behavior left even Wei Zhao astonished. This dog was no simple creature! It really could understand what he meant? It even knew he was threatening it? Could it be a transmigrator?

Soon enough, Mighty General stopped at a certain spot, scratched at the earth with its paws, and then gave a bark at Wei Zhao.

Wei Zhao nodded. He had only been trying his luck at first, never expecting Mighty General to be so capable — found already, and so quickly?

Wei Zhao set to digging with the Luoyang shovel in his hand. Before long there came a crisp *clink*, and Wei Zhao was somewhat taken aback — found this easily?

Nodding in satisfaction at Mighty General, he signaled that it could go back, and dug out the treasure chest. The chest was covered in rust; though one could tell it was a fine iron box, the years had been far too many, and it had corroded beyond recognition. A small lock still hung on it, but it had rusted through and snapped apart, no more than an empty formality.

When had this been buried? Could it have been Gu Mengyao and Shen Yushu who buried it? Thinking of that treasure map, it did seem possible.

Wei Zhao opened the chest with a touch of speechlessness. Had the lock on the chest been intact, naturally he would not have broken it; but now that the small lock had snapped, he simply took the opportunity to open the chest.

Inside the chest was an oil-paper package. Though the outside of the chest was rust-covered, and even the little lock on top had corroded and broken, the interior was well made — waterproof layers, rubber padding, and all the rest complete. After so many years, it was only somewhat damp, and the oil paper inside showed not a trace of damage.

It seemed this chest must have cost no small sum, though for two young ladies it hardly amounted to anything.

Wei Zhao took out the oil-paper package and casually unwrapped it, only to find layer upon layer of tight wrapping within — not just oil paper, but plastic sheeting as well.

When he opened these outer wrappings, inside were two things like little sachets. Wei Zhao was rather surprised — this was the so-called treasure?

Just as Wei Zhao was about to tear open one of the little sachets, he suddenly heard a scream from behind him, so startling that he nearly flung the sachet from his hand!
