Chapter 169 — Section 171: Scared Stiff

Battle Will Across the Vast Sky · Page 1 of 4

Tang Tang was fighting in a fever pitch of excitement.

Whirling the spiked club in his hand, Tang Tang swept through the hall like a madly dancing cyclone. Wherever he went, everything fell before him like rotten wood, and screams rang out without cease. His speed had always been unbelievably fast, and the martial artists could not even flee.

"Wah wah wah!"

"Charge, charge, charge!"

"Kill, kill, kill!"

Tang Duo's furious roars echoed through the whole hall.

Seeing this ferocious, unmatched Tang Tang, Lu Qing's soul nearly fled his body. Not a shred of fighting spirit remained in him, and supporting Old Man Yu, he rushed toward a collapsed gap in the wall.

The sharp-eyed Tang Tang caught sight of Lu Qing and the old man Yu, and with a strange shriek he stamped hard on the ground, shot into the air, and raised the spiked club high overhead.

Tang Tang sailed over fifty or sixty zhang, then plummeted like a shooting star. Lu Qing and old man Yu swelled rapidly in his eyes, and he could clearly make out the utter horror on their faces.

Killing intent filled Tang Tang's eyes. Remembering the humiliation Ah Xue had suffered, fury surged up in him with a rush. How many others had this old bastard ruined in his life!

With murder filling his heart, Tang Tang naturally struck with all his strength.

Crack, crack, crack!

Every joint seemed to groan, every muscle was called into play. Suspended in midair, Tang Tang's body was like a bow bent backward, stretched and drawn taut to the utmost, and the spiked club raised high overhead was forced up several more inches still!

"Die!"

Tang Tang's eyes glared wide, and his shout burst forth like thunder.

The strength of his whole body erupted in an instant, and the spiked club held high above his head abruptly vanished from his hand. Only those martial artists with exceptional eyesight could catch the ponderous club hurtling through the air at such speed, every sharp spike quivering violently, churning the airflow and giving off a low, numbing hum.

Hum!

Suddenly, a cold and savage axe-blade glow flared before his eyes.

Tang Tang's pupils contracted sharply, but he showed not the slightest alarm. His momentum had already climbed to its peak; even if Qi Ya himself appeared, he would not feel a trace of fear.

The spiked club and the axe glow collided without any flourish.

Clang!

The deafening clash of metal drowned out every other sound in the hall.

Tang Tang felt a force in no way inferior to his own blocking his spiked club dead, as though the club had smashed into an incomparably thick wall of bronze and iron.

The powerful recoil numbed his wrists.

Tang Ke was startled, and using that recoil, his whole body flipped backward through the air, flying back the way he had come at even greater speed.

The others had only seen Tang Tang charge at Lu Qing and Old Yu like a furious arrow; now they saw him flying backward even faster.

Only when another unfamiliar figure appeared before the crowd did everyone wake as from a dream.

"Lord Deacon!" Yan Xia recognized the newcomer at a glance as the deacon Xu Changtian, and his face filled with shock.

Before he could react, Tang Tang's furious roar rang out again, and gripping his spiked club, he hurled himself at Xu Changtian at even greater speed.

Damn it!

This stranger who had suddenly appeared had actually blocked the blow he was certain to land. Feeling his prey slip from his very lips, Tang Tang's rage and vexation surged up at once.

Bastard!

The stranger, crouched low with sinking waist, was swiftly marked as an enemy by Tang Tang. The man was short and squat but very solidly built, and the two broad axes in his hands—heavy at a single glance—were quickly braced before him in a defensive stance, his face grave.

A contest of strength?
