"Ugh, boring, boring. Break it up, break it up." Wang Ling found it increasingly dull.
There wasn't the slightest novelty of meeting a foreign beast tamer. Bring out a white-skinned, blonde, blue-eyed girl instead!
"Yawn~~~" Shi Cen yawned. A fight, a fight—he wanted to see foreign beasts!
Were there angels abroad? He'd heard that in foreign myths there was even a race called angels. If he could encounter one, who knew what skill he could acquire.
"Heh heh, I definitely won't disappoint you." Director He chuckled.
"By the way, are you a senior beast tamer now? I heard you're currently studying at the Gloria Knight Academy?"
"Yes." Fu Di'an nodded.
"How is the strength of that academy? Among the students, are there any master-level beast tamers?"
"No. Master level is the graduation standard. After reaching master level, one joins the Gloria Knights for further training, so the students' highest level is senior beast tamer."
"I see." Director He nodded and said, "It's about the same here. The students are mostly senior-level, with only a few having reached master level."
He looked toward the Battle Club members present.
The threshold of the Battle Club is senior beast tamer with commander-level combat power. As for master level, the Ancient Capital University previously had only two, and now only Bai Xi remains. Other universities are about the same; adding up the master-level students across the nine top academies, there are probably no more than twenty at present.
Most of the students only advanced to Master after graduation.
"Glory Knight Academy, the Glory Knights—what even is that? Sounds like it'd suit you three just fine." Miao Dongdong whispered to Shi Jin and the others.
Yu Shu was a Dragon Rider, Wang Ling a Phantom Horse Rider, and Shi Jin a Beast Rider...
Yu Shu rolled his eyes. "Not the same. His isn't a real 'rider'—it's just a title, Knight. Though I've only heard bits and pieces myself. Anyway, the Glory Knights are like our Beast Tamer Corps, except that country is big on the Light element. Only tamers who raise Light-type beasts are allowed to join the Glory Knights."
"So that means this Qi Jiu—whatever academy he attends—must be raising Light-type beasts too?" Wang Ling asked.
"Probably," Yu Shu said calmly.
Every nation has its favored attribute. Glory, for instance, holds the Light element in high esteem. The neighboring Seven Isles doesn't champion any single element, but surrounded by sea on all sides, it boasts the most Water-type beasts, a massive naval force—and pirates running wild.
Donghuang, vast in land and rich in resources, has beasts of every element, but owing to its history it prizes Dragon-types and beasts bearing Phoenix bloodlines above all, taking dragon and phoenix as its totems and guardian deities, and regarding them as the pinnacle of power.
A moment later, Director He and Fu Di'an had steered their conversation to the crux of the matter.
Fu Di'an judged that the time had come.
He looked toward the many elite members of the Battle Society in the training hall and said, "Teacher He, might I have a friendly match with your school's finest?"
Here it comes!
The Battle Society members all stiffened. Pick me!
"Well now." Director He smiled.
"No problem at all... Everyone present is essentially a senior Beast Tamer, so a fair sparring match is perfectly fine."
"What do you have in mind? Guests are guests—what are the battle rules and customs on your side?"
Fu Di'an: "At present I have only trained a single beast, and only the one. It's Commander-level. The rules don't matter much to me—so long as my opponent is of the same tier, both sides may freely use all the beasts bound to them and all their innate talents."
"Hm—you've only trained one beast?" Director He was taken aback.
"Correct." Fu Di'an nodded.
Director He was surprised.
The many Beast Tamers present were all somewhat surprised.
