Chapter 1361 — Restart

Blade of Dawn · Page 1 of 5

The activities of Cassandra and Asarena aboard the Firmament Station had activated a dormant terminal and allowed Gao Yang to successfully connect to the corresponding equipment inside the station, which immediately set him thinking—perhaps many other functions within the Firmament Station could be brought back online the same way? Perhaps… the station's damage was not as severe as he had imagined?

Of course, given Cassandra and Asarena's technical level, truly repairing the station was clearly impossible, but at the very least their activities might allow Gao Yang to gain further control over the Firmament's state. It was worth a try.

Mainly, of course, it was worth letting Cassandra try—after all, she wasn't afraid of dying…

In the dimly lit station hall, Cassandra followed Gao Song's instructions and located another nearby terminal device. This one had no crystalline panel; instead it featured a series of physical buttons and levers, looking like some sort of backup controller for manually restarting the system after an accident. She examined the device carefully for a moment, then poked the red button at its top with the tip of her tail. After a somewhat clumsy touch, a series of lights came on among the buttons and levers.

"Oh oh oh! This one lit up too!" the siren lady exclaimed, her eyes shining. "Emperor Gao Yang, this one's started up over here too—what do we do next?"

"Hold on a moment…" Gao Song's voice came through the nearby communications terminal. He had already sensed that new data was flowing into the stream between himself and the Firmament, but he needed a little more time to confirm what functions the equipment corresponding to this data possessed and where it was all connected. At this moment he felt as though he were standing in a dark fog, but one or two small, bright, clearly defined patches had already appeared before his eyes—these patches were the systems that Cassandra and Asarena had activated. Each time something new was activated, the dark fog before him was dispelled a little more.

And what he was doing now was carefully distinguishing, within the limited space revealed as the fog cleared, the paths leading to other "patches," and guiding Cassandra to try activating more devices and dispel more of the fog.

"Now take a look at what buttons are on the device in front of you—show me the markings on it."

"Okay," Cassandra observed the device before her carefully, committing every detail to memory, then went to the device through which she could converse with Gao Yang and spread her hands toward the camera. A layer of water mist immediately appeared at her fingertips, and in an instant the mist condensed into a clear model. "It looks like this!"

"Press the button in the middle of the bottom row. If it lights up, then press the second button from the left in the top row—'left' from my perspective. Don't press the wrong one."

"Okay!" Cassandra immediately wore a delighted expression and eagerly ran off to operate the device as Gao Song instructed, as though the process brought her immense joy. As the series of operations was carried out precisely, Asarena, standing not far away, and Cassandra, operating the device, both heard a faint hum rising in pitch, as though something were gradually starting up.

The hum rose from deep beneath the floor at their feet and gradually faded after reaching a certain level. Then she heard a series of "clicks" from all directions, and immediately after, bright lights suddenly blazed to life throughout the hall!
