Chapter 1340 — Frontline Laboratory

Blade of Dawn · Page 4 of 4

"It's all right. I'm fairly good at fighting," Lady Mina laughed, giving a light swing of her fist as if to demonstrate her strength. "And if it's just me, evacuation is actually more convenient in a real emergency."

"Uh... all right," Fendil said with a nod. Then, steeling himself under the gaze of this tall lady, he finished his tea and stood up. "Thank you for your hospitality. We'd better get down to business first—where would you like the magic net terminal installed?"

"I'll show you..."

Fendil and the two subordinates he had brought began to busy themselves. Following "Lady Mina's" directions, they were to install a military-grade magic net terminal beside the magical focal point at the center of the hall. After they began work, Milmina left the hall. She stepped onto an upward-slanting staircase at the far end of the hall, passed through a corridor that visually appeared to be tilted at nearly a ninety-degree angle, and arrived at a special room whose entrance could not be seen at all from the direction of the hall.

The room was semicircular overall, yet one side of its curved surface had no normal windows. Instead, a series of enormous irregular crystals was set into it, filled with hazy faint light. There seemed to be images of light and shadow within them, yet none could be seen clearly in detail.

Milmina walked toward one of the massive crystals, and only then did the hazy floating light within it suddenly become clear. The illusions formed of cloud and wind dispersed within the crystal, and what was revealed inside was unmistakably a scene from somewhere within the wasteland.

"Begin recording the observation log."

Milmina spoke casually to the air beside her, and at once an arcane servant holding a clipboard materialized out of thin air.

"Chaos, seemingly endless chaos... yet in reality this should be a kind of regular 'tremor'..." Milmina murmured softly, as if talking to herself. Her fingers brushed lightly over the crystal's surface, and the wasteland scene displayed within began to change accordingly. A semi-transparent "filter" formed of countless brilliant colors overlaid the image, those patches of color drifting in the air, constantly outlining the flow of magical power and its transformation processes, and among those floating lights and shadows, many "vortices" both large and small could be seen appearing and dissipating.

It was as if a chaotic ocean imperceptible to ordinary people floated above the ancient land of Gondor.

"If the essence of the Gondor Wasteland truly is a complete and unified 'field' manifesting a chaotic state, then any detail observed within this field should help describe the mathematical model of the field as a whole..."

"Frontline Laboratory, First Observation Log, Window One, time..."

As Mirmyna spoke softly, the arcane servant swiftly wrote characters and symbols onto the recording board.

For seven centuries, the truth buried within this mysterious wasteland had finally begun to be uncovered, bit by bit, before the gaze of reason and logic.
