"The Trailblazers, is it... I have already heard from Amber everything you saw in the 'deep sea,'" Hedy said gravely. "If the 'Elven Twins' now hiding in the wasteland are the Sentinels, and if these rune-stones indeed come from the hands of the Ember Shadow cultists, then the mysterious technology behind these devices has its explanation."
"...I hear the sirens have 'fished' more than one of these cubes out of the Deep Blue Netway?" Gao Yang asked curiously.
"Yes. As of yesterday afternoon they had found five such devices in the Deep Blue Netway," Hedy nodded. "And that is only those they successfully captured—the devices that were not captured, or not even discovered, are likely far more numerous."
"Have the sirens discovered anything about these devices?"
"They have no useful leads either," Hedy shook her head. "The sirens themselves have rather shallow understanding in the field of magic, and they don't know much about the Deep Blue Netway either. However..."
"However?"
"Queen Pythia of the sirens mentioned one thing. Recently the water elementals of the Boundless Sea have all been consciously keeping away from the Deep Blue ley-currents that pass through the Boundless Sea—though elemental creatures never did like the magic aura in the Deep Blue Netway, their reactions lately have been especially pronounced and... tense. The Elemental Sovereign and the Elemental Lords have offered no explanation, but it seems they are not deliberately concealing anything—rather, they themselves cannot make sense of the situation."
Gao Yang fell into thought and for a moment did not reply to Hedy. After nearly half a minute of pondering, he suddenly raised his head: "Has Milmina looked at these materials? She once presided over the field of magic—perhaps she can see something in them."
"Not yet," Hedy shook her head. "Since returning from the Divine Kingdom of War last time, Lady Milmina has been studying the secret behind the properties of mana fluctuations, and even submitted a declaration to the Theocratic Council reading 'Deep in research, do not disturb.' But I think if it were you going to her... neither of the two senior advisors would refuse to cooperate."
"So she's devoted herself to studying the mysteries of magic..." Gao Yun murmured, yet his mind could not help but summon the vision of that "divine kingdom of magic" he had witnessed aboard the cruise ship, and for a moment he was overcome with feeling. "Now at last she can freely pursue true knowledge... Still, I shall have to disturb her a little—after all, I must deliver something to Amoen."
Hedy nodded at once. "Very well. I will make the arrangements and accompany you there."
Gao Yang glanced at this "descendant" who had followed him with such tireless devotion for years, and could not suppress a smile. "No need. As always, I will take Amber with me. You, on the other hand, had best go and get a proper sleep."
Hedy opened her mouth at once to say something. "Ancestor, I..."
"Go and rest, Hedy," Gao Yang cut her off directly. "I am back."
