"I know. I can help," Myrmina nodded of her own accord before Enya could finish, and turned her eyes to Gao Yang. "When you set out, take me with you."
Gao Yang's eyes went wide in an instant; this was clearly beyond anything he had expected: "You mean... you want to come with us to explore the God of War's sanctuary?!"
"What else is there?" Myrmina spread her hands helplessly. "This 'senior' beside me is in no condition to move about, and this 'colleague' across from me is now paralyzed from head to toe. Of the gods who can still go out and do something, only one remains—who else but me? Exploring the God of War's sanctuary is an extremely dangerous undertaking. Beyond thorough preparation, what you need most is experience with sanctuaries and a pair of eyes capable of observing one in full. In that respect, I can still be of help."
Myrmina spoke with perfect clarity, yet Gao Yang remained somewhat uncertain: "What you say makes excellent sense, but will it really be all right? From what I know, there are barriers of thought between the gods. Because thought carries a strong inherent bias, gods of different domains are like signal waves of different frequencies—on contact they will inevitably produce 'signal contamination.' For a Goddess of Magic like you to step into the God of War's sanctuary, would that not be..."
"Such contamination does exist, but its precondition is that the link between the thought-current and the god remains, that both the thought-current and the god are still in operation," Myrmina nodded gently. "A living god is essentially a projection of a thought-current; the ceaseless shifts in mortal thought manifest as the various activities of the gods. Direct contact between two gods is therefore equivalent to the collision and interference of two different thought-currents. But if a god has fallen, or the link between god and thought-current has been severed, then this mechanism of 'interference' naturally ceases to exist."
"The God of War has now fallen; His sanctuary long ago ceased to operate. It is like a phantom frozen in place and slowly dissipating—a phantom in which no echo of thought-current remains, and which has therefore lost the power to contaminate other gods. If I step inside, it will be as one shadow passing through another; each will remain isolated from the other. Moreover..."
Myrmina paused and suddenly smiled: "Moreover, even setting aside the fact of the God of War's fall, I myself am at present essentially a 'dead' god. Perhaps not as thoroughly 'dead' as Lady Enya, but on the premise that every mortal in the world knows of that funeral and takes for granted that the Goddess of Magic is dead, my link to the thought-current has grown so faint as to be all but severed. Even if some residual 'activity' lingers in the God of War's sanctuary, I should be safe going in."
Listening to this former goddess's explanation, Gao Yang could not help nodding slightly—though she had initially opposed this project, that had been the result of excessive caution and 'divinity PTSD.' Now that the decision was made, this goddess had clearly resolved to support it with everything she had. But at her last sentence, something stirred in his mind and he realized another point: "Wait—so by your reasoning, you, a god who has 'already died,' could actually approach the sanctuaries of other gods with relative safety?"
Myrmina was taken aback; she had clearly not expected Gao Yang to seize upon that. Her expression turned slightly hesitant, but in the end she gave a faint nod: "In theory, yes... There would in fact still be some contamination; after all, my link to the thought-current is not completely severed, and there remain a small number of people in this world convinced that the Goddess of Magic will return. But on the whole, after approaching another god, I should be able to withdraw in one piece..."
