Chapter 904 — The Giant Tower
Blade of Dawn · Page 1 of 5
A colossal tower of metal!!
The instant he saw these words, Gao Song's pupils contracted involuntarily. He jerked his head up and looked at the map hanging nearby, his gaze sweeping across the southwestern, southeastern, and due-north directions of the Loren Continent one by one—on the southwestern ocean and the southeastern "New World," two rough schematic icons of towers had already been marked, while in the due-north direction near Talund, there was still nothing but blank space.
A colossal metal tower existed there! A third "tower" existed in this world!
A flood of questions surged into Gao Yang's mind—what exactly were these mysterious towers for? Were they all relics of the Godslayer Fleet? Were they still operating to this day? And inside those towers... what was there?
Suppressing the questions that kept bubbling up, he quickly refocused his attention on Mo Jin's account. Amid those pages weathered by six hundred years, this great adventurer of countless legendary experiences was writing down an inconceivable journey—
"...I was struck dumb by the sight before my eyes, rendered speechless for a long while—by all the gods of this world and all my ancestors above! That was absolutely not something humans could have created, nor something any known race in this world could have created—was that really a tower? Or was it a pillar meant to pierce through this tiny planet beneath our feet?
"It stood upon the sea in unmatched immensity, its position likely on the western side of that mysterious continent (I am not quite certain—my sense of direction has been in utter disarray lately). Its surface gleamed with a pale silver, metallic luster, and under the light of the setting sun, the entire tower seemed filled with a certain 'divine' grandeur. It appeared to be built from countless cylinders and geometric structures stacked together; upon its complex shell one could see many connecting pipes and supports. It seemed to have stood here for millions of years, so that its upper portion was scarred and weathered, mottled with the marks of time, while its base rested upon a foundation also forged of metal—a foundation so vast it could be regarded as a giant island in its own right. I could clearly see grayish-white marine sediment piled upon its surface, and between the enormous metal structures, vast sheets of solid ice..."
Reading intently, Gao Xi slowly turned to the next page, and a sketch—clearly drawn in great haste—leapt into his view!
Mo Jin Wilde had actually left behind a hand-drawn illustration!
On that ancient paper, already yellowed and even blackened, Gao Yang saw a tower whose style would appear absolutely bizarre to the humans of this era. It indeed stood upon the sea as Mo Jin had described, with a metallic base, and upon its surface were many intricate, exquisitely crafted external structures whose purpose was unknown.
Gao Yang's attention was instantly captured by this hand-drawn sketch. He studied it carefully several times over, until it was completely imprinted in his mind.
Frankly, he could not glean any additional information from this sketch—lacking the necessary technical and intellectual foundation, this precious hand-drawn illustration was nothing more than a picture to him. But at least in terms of style, it shared certain similarities with some of the models he had seen on the holographic miniature map of Gao You's Skyhold Station, which proved that they were indeed relics of the former "Godslayer Fleet." As for anything more... Mo Jin Wilde was, after all, only a human mage who had never come into contact with those facilities in space. The sketches he left behind might be accurate in general outline, but their details were not necessarily reliable—he had depicted the tower's external structure relying solely on his powerful memory, and errors and omissions were inevitable. They did not possess particularly high reference value.
Only then did Gao Yang continue reading on:
