Chapter 354 — The Satellite Spirit's New Function

Blade of Dawn · Page 2 of 4

In his mind, that overhead view—previously obscured by great swaths of mottled color and impossible to make out—had finally become clear. He had found the way to switch off that "mana distribution map filter." Now he could look upon this world freely and distinctly!

It still was not as clear as what he had seen back in his satellite days, but he was quite satisfied. This was, after all, an old satellite, and being able to turn the filter off at all far exceeded his expectations; a slightly blurry image was entirely acceptable.

That was most likely caused by the aging of the lens assembly.

He also tried switching the mana distribution map back on, and after a brief delay, the map, covered in shifting patches of color, reappeared in his mind, which set Gao Yang's heart at ease at once.

Being able to toggle the filter freely was for the best. After all, though the mana distribution map was hard to make out, it was a crucial pillar for issuing mana tide warnings; frankly, Gao Yang felt it was even more valuable than the high-definition view.

And beyond the freely switchable mana distribution map, Gao Yang discovered that he could at last move the viewpoint and zoom in and out!

In his mind, the vast land was slowly shifting. He saw the mountains in the south of the Cecil Territory, the reclaimed land on the north bank of the Whitewater River, the Kant Territory and the Golan Territory, and the Holy Spirit Plains and the northern lands still blanketed in ice and snow...

After sweeping once across the Kingdom of Ansu, Gao Yang began to move the viewpoint southward.

His field of view returned to the Cecil Territory, then slowly moved south—across the Dark Mountains, across that black forest that had once devoured ten thousand brave men of the Reclamation Expeditionary Force, across that belt of plains that had once been an important grain-producing region of Gondor... and he saw the Great Wall.

It was a brilliant arc of light. One enormous sentinel tower (shield generator) after another stood at the nodes along the arc, and the energy they released formed a curving barrier. This barrier was so vast that even when he pulled his sight back and looked down from the far more distant vantage of space, that striking barrier was still visible.

But after he fixed his attention on the Gondor Wasteland inside the barrier, the smile on Gao Yang's face gradually faded.

Great swaths of interference ripples suddenly appeared in the image; layer upon layer of distorted blocks of color and constantly jittering pixels occupied nearly the whole field of view. He could scarcely make out anything within the Gondor Wasteland!

Gao Yang could of course guess what it was—powerful energy interference, interference from the residual energy of the mana tide that still squatted in the wasteland!

That interfering energy was actually that powerful? So powerful that even a monitoring satellite of Zenith Star technology could not see through conditions inside the interference zone?

Gao Yang's brows knitted tightly. Then he guessed that the satellite might possess a variety of different sensors and observation modes, perhaps even one suited to coping with such interference, so he immediately activated mana reaction observation—at present the only observation mode he had mastered aside from the high-definition imagery.

Gao Yang did indeed see something different: patches of mana color, nearly violet-black, covering the entire image.

This meant the mana intensity within the observed range was extremely high.

Gao Yang silently shut off the mana reaction mode, feeling it was utterly useless—even less useful than the high-definition view.
