Chapter 383 — Kevin's Weakness
Years of Heartflutter · Page 1 of 2
At last, a chill rose in Kevin's heart! Yang Ce had lured him here for no good purpose, that was clear enough! No wonder the brat had picked a deserted place like this—not to set an ambush, not because he had taken a wrong turn in his panic, but because he meant to kill him!
Kevin did not much believe Yang Ce could kill him. Even if Yang Ce really had been the one to finish Jetterson, that had only been possible because Yang Ce had made use of some external force!
A boiler at high temperature—never mind Jetterson, even a chunk of iron would have melted in it. But here there was neither a boiler nor a volcano. Yang Ce thought he could kill him? Was the man dreaming?
Kevin gazed across the boundless emptiness, and a faint smile flickered at the corner of his mouth. "You mean to tell me you can kill me right here?"
"You were rebuilt as a machine—your brain isn't broken, is it? Or were you born an idiot, or is there something wrong with your hearing? Didn't you hear me, or didn't you understand me? I said I'm going to kill you right here. Otherwise, why would I have lured you to this place? For fun?" Yang Ce regarded Kevin with a trace of mockery.
Hearing Yang Ce's utter confidence, Kevin grew only more puzzled. Could Yang Ce truly have some ultimate technique? Impossible—there was nothing anywhere nearby that could do him harm.
"Is that so? I'd rather like to see how you plan to kill me." Kevin looked around once more, confirming that there really was nothing in the vicinity that could hurt him.
"Oh, then let me show you something. Don't be impatient!" Yang Ce lowered his head and ducked into the Passat. Reaching in, he drew out the heavy sniper rifle, but lowered his voice and said to Liu Yu, "In a moment I'll bait him into making a certain move. When that happens, aim at the center of the sole of his right foot and fire!"
"Understood..." Liu Yu did not know what Yang Ce was planning, but since Yang Ce said so, there had to be a reason. This was no time for questions—Kevin was watching from close by, and even if Liu Yu had questions, he could not ask them now.
Yang Ce had his back to Kevin as he spoke, so he was not worried about Kevin seeing anything. Kevin's eyes could hardly see through things the way his own could, and his body was blocking Liu Yu from view besides, so there was no need to worry that Kevin would catch what Liu Yu said either.
The reason Yang Ce turned his back to Kevin so carelessly was twofold: on one hand, his three-hundred-sixty-degree vision let him monitor Kevin's movements at any moment, so he had no fear of any trick; on the other hand, he had already guessed that Kevin would be curious about what he meant to show him, and he was quite certain Kevin did not believe he could do him any harm—which was why Kevin was in no hurry to strike, wanting first to get at the truth of a few things.
"Ha, what do you think of this?" Yang Ce raised the heavy sniper rifle in his hands and leveled it at Kevin.
"You're going to kill me with that?" Kevin looked at it and burst out laughing. Was this the source of all that confidence? One sniper rifle, and he thought he could kill him? Kevin felt the man before him was truly foolish and naive!
"Yes. Is something wrong with that?" Yang Ce said.
"Nothing at all. Good—you may go die now." Seeing the weapon Yang Ce claimed could kill him, Kevin felt a pang of disappointment. A lousy heavy sniper rifle, and he meant to kill him with it? Kevin was speechless, and he had no patience left to dawdle with this man.
As for the secrets Yang Ce carried, he had learned about as much as he needed. Yang Ce had come to know so many secrets because he had killed Jetterson; now that Kevin had clarified the channel through which Yang Ce obtained his information, he would have something to report back to Dr. Banlin. The only task left was to kill Yang Ce.
