Chapter 335 — Where Is Your Boyfriend?
Years of Heartflutter · Page 2 of 5
Back in her office, Jing Yu felt more and more wronged. What kind of nonsense was this? Who was so vicious as to cook up such a scheme against her? Was she really the kind of cheap woman who'd trade a month of "usage rights" for a week's use of a BMW? Did she look like an idiot?
The whole day, Jing Yu drifted in a daze, hardly knowing what she was doing. Everywhere she went, she felt eyes on her back, staring at her, along with whispers she couldn't make out—though they surely weren't kind. Wang Xiaoran, however, was delighted. She had always regarded Jing Yu as her enemy. This time she had not only won Yu Chi but also ruined Jing Yu's reputation. Wang Xiaoran thought herself an absolute genius—a casual post had stirred up such a storm.
That evening after work, hand in hand with Yu Chi, she happened to spot Jing Yu walking out of the building's ground floor with knitted brows. She couldn't help feeling a thrill and stepped forward. "Xiaolu, your BMW-driving boyfriend didn't come to pick you up?"
Jing Yu had never had any BMW-driving boyfriend picking her up or dropping her off, so Wang Xiaoran was plainly spouting nonsense with her eyes wide open, picking a fight over nothing. How could Jing Yu miss the mockery hidden in her words?
She gave Wang Xiaoran a cold look. "My boyfriend is very busy. Is there a problem?" "Very busy, oh..." Wang Xiaoran blinked and said in a rather snide tone, "I thought everything online was true..."
Jing Yu cast a look of disgust at the woman beside her. In the past, she would have slapped her long ago, but now Jing Yu had grown much more reserved, because Yang Yanzhou didn't like the sort of girl who acted like a street punk. So Jing Yu had made herself change a great deal. "I'm busy too. If there's nothing else, I'll be going." Jing Yu turned aside and walked briskly toward the entrance, her figure vanishing into the subway station.
Wang Xiaoran had been gloating over getting a dig in at Jing Yu, but when she turned her head, she saw her boyfriend Yu Chi staring fixedly in the direction Jing Yu had gone. Instantly displeased—still can't let go? She snorted. "What? Do you still have that slut in your heart?"
"No..." Yu Chi jumped with fright. He didn't want to offend Wang Xiaoran at a time like this, and hurriedly shook his head. "I was just thinking—even at a time like this, that woman is still so arrogant. A dead duck with a stiff beak!"
Wang Xiaoran thought: at least you know what's good for you. Now that you've crawled into my trousers, do you think I'll let you go? "Darling, where shall we eat later?" Hearing Yu Chi say this, her expression turned back to its former sugary sweetness.
"Eat? Uh..." Yu Chi had just realized a serious problem: his future expenses would be far greater than before. Those few thousand yuan a month might not even cover meals with Wang Xiaoran.
Even so, Yu Chi had no choice but to grit his teeth and agree. It seemed he'd have to find a way to get some money in the future, he thought.
She had class at school that evening, so Jing Yu took the subway back to the dorm first, planning to change clothes before heading to class. As she arrived, she saw Lin Yanhe and Ge Xinyao talking about something.
Jing Yu was in no mood to join their conversation. She nodded to them and headed for the dorm. "Xiaolu, you just got off work?" Ge Xinyao asked with concern when she saw her. "Mm..." Jing Yu nodded listlessly and went inside.
"Xiaolu, what's wrong? You look so gloomy. Is something on your mind?" Ge Xinyao was fairly close to Jing Yu—they had been friends since childhood—so Jing Yu's mood changes couldn't escape her. One glance was enough for Ge Xinyao to see something was off. "It's nothing..." Jing Yu sighed and shook her head, because even if she told Ge Xinyao, it wouldn't help—it would only make her worry along with her.
