Chapter 249 — The Last Chance

Years of Heartflutter · Page 2 of 5

"You're saying your father put the Sun family under house arrest and still wants to capture me and hand me to that boss behind the scenes?" Yang Ce said.

"That's right. But I've already called and given my father an earful." Tian Yan spoke with finality. "I don't care about any of their Sun family business, but if he wants to touch you, that's absolutely out of the question. I'm going to cut ties with him as father and son!"

Yang Ce hadn't expected Tian Yan to say anything so resolute, and he was moved. But hearing Tian Yan's words, he also knew another of his plans had fallen through.

Originally Yang Ce had intended to turn the tables—to go to Donghai and arrange a meeting with Tian Long. But now it seemed Tian Long would already be on his guard. Tian Yan's phone call had surely made clear to him that his plan was exposed, which meant he would not easily agree to see Yang Ce again.

Then again, capturing Yang Ce was never going to be easy. Yang Ce was the disciple of Fang Tian, king of assassins—with no one to pin him down, Yang Ce could fight his way out of a crowd and slip away with ease.

Tian Long wanting to capture Yang Ce was sheer delusion. Even without Tian Yan's tip-off, Tian Long would never have succeeded.

But now, since Tian Long knew that Yang Ce knew his plan, there was no need for Yang Ce to go to Donghai to see him.

At the very least, Tian Long would not agree to any open meeting. Tian Long was also afraid Yang Ce might pull some trick—or even call the police! After all, what Tian Long had done was all dirty business; matters on the underworld side were settled internally, and no one would go to the police. But Yang Ce was different: his public identity was a university student, and there would be nothing improper about him reporting to the police that Tian Long had tried to kidnap him. So Tian Long would not risk moving against Yang Ce again.

"Thank you, Old Tian!" Yang Ce clapped him on the shoulder, his mind already turning over what Tian Yan had said. The shock of it was simply too great!

Tian Long had actually turned traitor, put the Sun family under house arrest, and taken over the Sun family's holdings in Donghai—Yang Ce had never anticipated this. The turn of events had come too fast for him to digest.

How was it that one trip abroad had brought back so many upheavals? Over at Mingyang Entertainment, something had gone wrong—the two vice presidents, Liu Chan and Qu Daming, had run off. And over in Donghai, the Tian family, the Sun family's right hand, had betrayed the Suns and turned the tables...

Wait! A flash of insight struck Yang Ce—a rather bold conjecture streaked across his mind! Could the business with Liu Chan and Qu Daming have something to do with Tian Long?

If Tian Long wanted to take Yang Ce down, might he not start with Yang Ce's businesses? And most telling of all, Liu Chan and Qu Daming had fled to Donghai—that had to mean something.

Still, this was only Yang Ce's rough judgment; whether there was truly a connection between them was not yet known. He could only ask the two of them once they were caught.

Yang Ce hadn't expected Tian Long to be so impatient. In Yang Ce's plans, Sun Jie would sooner or later be his woman and would go with him to North Africa, while the Donghai holdings would all be left to Tian Yan to manage.

That way, the Donghai businesses would sooner or later belong to the Tian family. And yet Tian Long had chosen this moment to rebel, which left Yang Ce in a difficult position. He had intended to leave the Sun family's holdings to Tian Long to manage, but now Tian Long's betrayal had forced the matter forward. As things stood, Yang Ce truly had no way to hand the Sun family's holdings over to him.

The outcome was the same either way—merely brought forward a little—but Tian Long's methods were something Yang Ce could absolutely not tolerate! Looking at Tian Yan beside him, his face full of distress, Yang Ce sighed.
