"That works. Let's go out together tomorrow, then," Chen Shutang said with a nod. "But what should we buy?"
"It's New Year's—how about a sweater for each of your parents?" Yang Ce suggested.
"Sounds good. In a bit I'll go check what sizes they wear," Chen Shutang said, thinking it an excellent idea.
That evening, Yang Ce's parents called him to the sofa in the living room.
"Daming, be honest with your mother—you and Mengyan, how far have the two of you gotten?" Mother Yang asked.
"Huh?" Yang Puqi froze, then stammered, "Mom, why are you asking that?"
"A mother naturally has to keep track of her son's comings and goings at all times," Mother Yang said with perfect seriousness.
"There's no need to ask about things like that, is there?" Yang Moyi said, rather embarrassed.
"What do you mean, 'things like that'?" Mother Yang said, displeased. "You're flesh dropped from my own body—what is there to be shy about?"
Yang Ce broke out in a cold sweat. See? This was the typical mindset of so many parents—they simply didn't respect their children's rights at all.
"Mom, what do you even want to know that for?" Yang Ce was truly sweating now.
"Of course it's useful," Mother Yang said gravely. "This is very important. If you and Mengyan have already reached that stage, then everything will be easy. If not, then it'll be a bit of trouble."
To be continued.
