Chapter 3518 — Wei Zhao Is Ruthless Too

The Blossom Guardian

It was unwilling to accept this, yet there was nothing it could do. This was not merely the dread all living things felt for the Dragon Totem, but also the innate oppressive might of the spirit-beast clan. It was too powerful, and it could not resist.

"Hahahahaha!" Zhong Yongliang burst into wild laughter. To his mind, this Five-Shas Dragon had been paraded in circles by Wei Zhao for so long that its intelligence surely could not be very high. So Zhong Yongliang figured that once the Five-Shas Dragon felt the oppressive might and sensed its humiliation, it would fly into a frenzy and attack Wei Zhao.

Wei Zhao was somewhat at a loss, unable to make sense of what Zhong Yongliang was playing at. Was this his way of helping? Having seen Zhang Naipao crippled by Wang Xinyan, had he come to curry favor by helping Wei Zhao deal with the Five-Shas Dragon?

On second thought, that seemed unlikely. Still, for Wei Zhao this was a fine chance to cover things up. He and the Five-Shas Dragon had already agreed that at some opportunity it would feign defeat, and he would stab it once and draw off some blood.

But as things stood, Wei Zhao was a tiny figure fleeing out front while the enormous Five-Shas Dragon pursued him from behind. A chance to turn the tables would be hard to come by; if he cheated now, it would look far too fake. Even Wei Zhao would be embarrassed to do it.

And now heaven had granted him the perfect opening. Seeing the Five-Shas Dragon sprawled on the ground, Wei Zhao hastily fished a small knife and a little bottle out of his jade pendant's space, slashed once at the dragon's leg, drew off a bit of blood, and filled the bottle.

"Roar, roar, roar..." The Five-Shas Dragon let out a few cries, putting on a show of great agony.

Zhong Yongliang was somewhat stunned as well. He had not expected Wei Zhao to actually stab the Five-Shas Dragon with a knife. Was Wei Zhao trying to slay a dragon? Did he mean to defy heaven itself? Being able to hold his own against the Five-Shas Dragon was already impressive enough; wanting to slay it was nothing but a fool's dream!

Still, this was just as well. Zhong Yongliang had been fretting that the Five-Shas Dragon would not grow angry. Now, on top of being subjected to the oppressive might, Wei Zhao had even given it a slash. If it did not go berserk now, it would not deserve to be called the king of spirit beasts!

Truly, if you do not court death, you will not die! Had you not stabbed it, you might have lived; now that you have, you are surely doomed.

And yet this Five-Shas Dragon truly had hide like leather and flesh like stone, absurdly tough. When Wei Zhao stabbed it earlier, he had already brought out the full peak of the late heaven-tier grand completion, and even then he only opened a tiny wound. This was truly a savage beast that no ordinary cultivator could contend with!

At that thought, Zhong Yongliang hastily stopped circulating the Wild Dragon Divine Art, for Wei Zhao was still within close range of the Five-Shas Dragon. Once the oppressive might vanished, Wei Zhao would probably be swatted flying with a single claw, wouldn't he? Wahaha!

After Zhong Yongliang withdrew his power, he watched Wei Zhao smugly, already imagining Wei Zhao being savaged to death by the Five-Shas Dragon. But the scene he envisioned did not come to pass. The Five-Shas Dragon rose to its feet—and instead of attacking Wei Zhao, it whipped around with a "whoosh" and charged at Zhong Yongliang standing not far away!

"Ah?!" Zhong Yongliang was startled out of his wits. He had not expected the Five-Shas Dragon to ignore Wei Zhao and come for him instead. He nearly wet himself with fright and took to his heels at once. And so the earlier scene of the Five-Shas Dragon chasing Wei Zhao became the Five-Shas Dragon chasing Zhong Yongliang!

Zhong Yongliang was beside himself with frustration. What the hell was this? The Five-Shas Dragon did not look especially clever, so how could it tell that the oppressive might came from him? And even granting that it did, Wei Zhao had stabbed it a moment ago—should it not go take revenge on Wei Zhao, who was closest? Instead it lunged at Zhong Yongliang some distance away. Truly baffling!

But there was nothing Zhong Yongliang could do. Where was he supposed to go to reason with anyone? There was no place to appeal at all! Moreover, he did not dare keep using the Wild Dragon Divine Art. Though the art worked on any expert below heaven-tier grand completion, and its effect on the Five-Shas Dragon was hardly weak either, circulating it drained his physical strength and true qi enormously. If he kept it up, he would soon exhaust both!

And what then, once it was spent? Would he not still be attacked by the Five-Shas Dragon? With no physical strength or true qi left, he would not even be able to run!

The oppressive might of the Wild Dragon Divine Art existed so that one could strike while the foe was suppressed. But what use was striking when even the Five-Shas Dragon was suppressed? Who could do anything to it? Had they not seen that Wei Zhao, hailed as the foremost man under the heavenly dao, had spent every ounce of his strength only to open a tiny wound?

This Five-Shas Dragon simply could not be dealt with—the ancient patriarch Xuanchen had warned as much back then! And since it could not be dealt with, what use was the oppressive might?

Now Zhang Naipao was crippled as well. Had he not been, Zhong Yongliang could still have had him try circulating the Bee-Devouring Divine Art to drain all the physical strength and true qi from the Five-Shas Dragon's body, degrading it below the yellow tier.

But Zhang Naipao could no longer be put to the test; Zhong Yongliang was left to fight alone.

"Assistant Kang, send someone to cover me, quick!" Zhong Yongliang was drenched in cold sweat from fright. He did not have Wei Zhao's exquisite footwork. Watching Wei Zhao toy with the Five-Shas Dragon had seemed like a joke, but with him in that position, it was peril at every turn—one moment's carelessness and the Five-Shas Dragon's claw would swat him flat!

Kang Jingming was indecisive too, unsure whether he should step in and help Zhong Yongliang, because things had now departed from their earlier plan. They had meant for the Five-Shas Dragon to deal with Wei Zhao, but now it had abandoned Wei Zhao and was fixated solely on Zhong Yongliang.

As matters stood, if they helped, it would amount to everyone fighting it together, and killing Wei Zhao would become well-nigh impossible.

"Wei Zhao, why aren't you helping? Are you thinking of loafing on the job?" Kang Jingming rolled his eyes and shouted at Wei Zhao.

"I have been putting in effort all along. Now I'm rather worn out and need a short rest," Wei Zhao said mildly.

"If you don't make a move, I'll treat it as your refusal to follow deployment," Kang Jingming said.

"Oh? All right, then I'll give it a try!" Wei Zhao nodded, sneering inwardly. You brought this on yourself. Originally I had no intention of going after Little Eleven in this trial—after all, everyone was united against the Five-Shas Dragon.

Had Wei Zhao targeted Little Eleven alone, it would have been far too obvious. But now it seemed Wei Zhao no longer intended to spare Little Eleven either. Since Kang Jingming had shown no benevolence, he could hardly blame Wei Zhao for showing no righteousness!

Wei Zhao stood up and ran toward the Five-Shas Dragon, then condensed his true qi into sound and said to it: "In a moment, go after that woman beside Kang Jingming. Make a fool of her for a while, then toss her in front of Han Jingyi—the girl standing over there in the little black blazer."
