Chapter 3462 — A Curious Attitude

The Blossom Guardian

That was why Kun Cun had not hesitated to seize Bai Weituo and the others, intending to lure Wei Zhao in and wipe him out in one fell swoop. But now it looked as though it was anyone's guess who would be wiping out whom!

"Many thanks to Young Hero Lin for sparing my life! Rest assured, Young Hero Lin, from this day on I am your errand-runner. Whatever you tell me to do, I'll do, without fail!" Kun Cun said hastily. "The one virtue I have is that I know when to bow to circumstance—a wise man knows his own weight."

"Enough. Find someone to patch up your hotel. I need to rest, and I don't want to see my classmates come to any harm. Tomorrow morning, I expect you to bring them here. Otherwise, you know the consequences." Wei Zhao glanced at Kun Cun.

"Don't you worry, Young Hero Lin, I know what to do!" Kun Cun nodded again and again, then withdrew respectfully from the room.

His efficiency was remarkable. Before long, staff came to replace the door of the room and patch the holes in the corridor; as for the body of Pu Nimei below, someone had long since carried it away.

Kun Cun came and went in a hurry, and the hotel soon returned to its calm. No one noticed that such an upheaval had taken place here only moments before.

"Ergoudan, thank you for your help this time!" Wei Zhao said. "If I'd been alone, I truly would have had no way to deal with that Deputy Sect Master Pu. The man was impervious to blade and spear—I could hardly have killed him."

"It was nothing! And besides, I'm thrilled to have been of help to you, Leader! At last I have a chance to be useful—otherwise all I can do every day is go up the mountain and fight monsters, which is miserable." Ergoudan said.

"Haha, all right then. Go get some rest—Yuanyuan must be getting anxious by now?" Wei Zhao laughed. "I'm turning in too. Tomorrow we'll have that fellow Kun Cun take us around and show us a good time. Consider it a holiday!"

"Will do!" Ergoudan nodded and went off to rest.

The night passed without incident, and early the next morning, Kun Cun brought Bai Weituo and the others to the Right Miao Grand Hotel.

But Kun Cun's manner left Bai Weituo and the others deeply puzzled. How had he gone from such ferocity before to this fawning, flattering air now? What on earth had happened?

After leaving the casino, Bai Weituo and the others were led into a luxurious motorhome. Kun Cun had Bai Weituo and his three companions seated on the plush four-seat facing sofas, while he himself took a seat to the side—which only deepened everyone's confusion. What game was this man playing?

Tu Feng, meanwhile, sat behind Kun Cun.

"Please, take your seats, young masters and young ladies!" Once they were aboard, Tu Feng spoke with unflagging courtesy.

"Hey, big brother, quit playing with us, all right? If Wei Zhao doesn't show up, are you going to dump me in some deserted patch of ocean to feed the fish?" Zhang Duopan's face was ashen; the more polite the other side grew, the more frightened and unsettled he became.

"Haha, don't mind it! Earlier I was only joking with you. As a matter of fact, our boss Brother Kun and Mr. Wei Zhao really are acquainted—more than that, we're Mr. Wei Zhao's subordinates!" Tu Feng said quickly. "Right now we're taking you to see Mr. Wei Zhao!"

"Big brother, come on, you can't be serious? I know you and that idiot Wei Zhao are sworn enemies—we really are enemies, I'm telling you! It's Bai Weituo who's Wei Zhao's lackey, not us at all! Let me go, please, I really don't want to die!" Zhang Duopan pleaded, his face twisted with misery.

"So you really are Wei Zhao's enemy, and not his lackey or a good friend of his?" Kun Cun turned his head and suddenly spoke up.

"No, I'm not! Really not! If you don't believe me, ask him!" With that, Zhang Duopan pointed at Bai Weituo. "Bai Weituo, don't you lie! This is all because of your idiot leader dragging us into it. Tell the truth—what is the relationship between me and Wei Zhao?"

"He's telling the truth. He's an adversary of Leader Wei Zhao and of me alike. We were both in love with He Meiyue, and he's been working against us all along." Bai Weituo nodded. "Since this whole business started because of Leader Wei Zhao, it really has nothing to do with him. Let him go!"

Kun Cun frowned, nodded, then picked up his phone and dialed a number—the number of the hotel room where Wei Zhao was staying.

"Hello, Kun Cun. You're here?" Wei Zhao answered.

"Well... it's like this. May I ask, this fellow named Zhang Duopan—is he your enemy, or...? And Bai Weituo as well..." Kun Cun asked cautiously. If he brought all four of them over and one of them turned out to be Wei Zhao's enemy, and Wei Zhao took offense, who would bear the blame but Kun Cun? So he had to have it clear first.

"Oh, Bai Weituo is my lackey—same rank as you, on equal footing." Wei Zhao said. "But he joined earlier than you, so call him Brother Bai. As for that Zhang Duopan and Fan Ganhe, find some place and dump them. I don't want to see them."

Wei Zhao also understood by now that this whole affair had been stirred up largely by Zhang Duopan's boasting and troublemaking, and had little to do with Bai Weituo. So he felt not the slightest goodwill toward the man, and had no wish to lay eyes on him.

"Understood, Leader!" Kun Cun hung up, and the look he turned on Zhang Duopan was now somewhat off.

Zhang Duopan was baffled. Who had Kun Cun been calling? Why was he addressing the other party as Leader? And how did that person know both him and Bai Weituo? What was going on? Wait... could their leader really be Wei Zhao? And was everything that had been said true, not some trick on him?

At that thought, Zhang Duopan gave a violent start. He peered cautiously at Kun Cun. "Big brother... what I said just now was a joke, really. Actually, I'm one of Leader Wei Zhao's lackeys too..."

"Tu Feng, find a place and bury these two! Leader Wei Zhao says he doesn't want to see them anymore." Kun Cun had clearly misread Wei Zhao's words. Wei Zhao had said to dump them somewhere and that he did not want to see them; Kun Cun took it to mean he wanted the two disposed of.

After all, only yesterday he had witnessed Wei Zhao's ruthlessness—Pu Nimei had been killed just like that, and four Heaven-Rank Great Perfection experts at the headquarters had been annihilated just as easily. So for these two nobodies, what was there to it but to snuff them out?

In truth, Wei Zhao had meant nothing of the sort. "Dump them" simply meant letting them out of the car and sending them on their way. At his present level of power, he had no interest whatsoever in whether these two lived or died.RS
