Chapter 3136 — The Legend of Ouyang

The Blossom Guardian

Wei Zhao activated the first level of the Xuanyuan Dragon-Taming Art and began repairing Vice President Ouyang's meridians. Even though Wei Zhao and Vice President Ouyang were on excellent terms now, Wei Zhao still held something back. After all, the two had not known each other long; trusting as he was, Wei Zhao kept a few cards close to his chest.

Both the first and third levels of the Xuanyuan Dragon-Taming Art could heal damaged meridians, though at different speeds. Even so, a look of utter shock soon spread across Vice President Ouyang's face, for he could feel the meridians within his body healing at an unbelievable rate!

He wanted to ask Wei Zhao how such a marvel was possible, but then he recalled that Wei Zhao had told him not to move. The words reached his lips and Vice President Ouyang swallowed them again, waiting silently for Wei Zhao to finish the treatment.

Three hours slipped by. In truth, only a small portion of the meridians in Vice President Ouyang's body had been damaged, not the greater part—otherwise he could never have attained his present strength.

Those three hours were all Wei Zhao's deliberate stretch. Had he used the third level of the Xuanyuan Dragon-Taming Art to repair them, it would have taken all of ten minutes.

"There." Feigning great weakness, Wei Zhao withdrew his hand from Vice President Ouyang's body and let out a heavy breath of turbid air. Though he felt perfectly at ease inside, he still had to put on a show—it would make Vice President Ouyang feel indebted to him.

Sure enough, before Vice President Ouyang could even register his shock and joy, he saw Wei Zhao's feeble state and asked urgently, "Brother Ling, how are you? Do you need to replenish your physical strength and true qi right now?"

"In a moment. Let me rest a while first!" Wei Zhao waved a hand and pretended to shut his eyes and gather his spirit. After resting a while, he said, "Brother Ouyang, how do you feel?"

"Good—very good! Brother Ling, I don't know how to thank you. Once the meridians in my body are restored, I'll have no trouble at all breaking through to the mid Heaven Rank in the next couple of days!" Vice President Ouyang said. "Brother Ling, I finally understand what you meant about taking revenge yourself... It's not that I lack confidence—it's that I've delayed too long. To catch up with the Pure Yin Heavenly Venerable is all but impossible! Still, having my meridians restored is a great boon to me. If I can smoothly break through to the late Heaven Rank within the next few years, I'll have hope of obtaining the Cultivators' Guild's uniquely favored cultivation resources and pushing on to the peak great perfection of the late Heaven Rank. Then I too will have a chance to set foot on Cloud Rank Island—and at that point, who reaches the Heavenly Dao first, the Pure Yin Heavenly Venerable or I, will be anyone's guess. That is my only chance. Otherwise, beneath the Heavenly Dao, my hope of revenge is hardly realistic."

Wei Zhao nodded noncommittally. Vice President Ouyang was right, and he was wise to see it. He lacked the ability to fight above his level, so even if he too was a peak great perfection expert of the late Heaven Rank, by then the Pure Yin Heavenly Venerable would long since have been a famed peak great perfection expert of the late Heaven Rank. There was simply no comparing the two.

"If there's a chance, I'll help you take that revenge." Empty words required no written pledge, so Wei Zhao made the promise offhandedly. After all, Wei Zhao himself was at odds with the Tomorrow Upon Tomorrow Sect.

"Then I thank you!" Vice President Ouyang did not take it seriously. Wei Zhao might be able to fight above his level, but he was still a long way from killing the Pure Yin Heavenly Venerable. "Mr. Ling, I, Ouyang, will remember today's kindness. Should you ever have need of me, I will not shrink from any task!"

"Ha ha, well said, well said." Wei Zhao smiled and said no more. What Wei Zhao did not know was that with Vice President Ouyang's meridians healed, and with this great service of the automatic medicinal cauldron on top of it, Vice President Ouyang's elder behind the scenes had pushed once more to designate him a key disciple of the Cultivators' Guild...

"Brother Ling, a great debt needs no words of thanks. I'll go back now and set the promotional campaign for this first-grade automatic medicinal cauldron in motion. But you must tell me—if people can't wait and want to buy the single-version cauldron or the five-in-one cauldron, where should they go?" Vice President Ouyang asked.

"The Liu family of the mortal world. She's one of mine. I'll have her contact you," Wei Zhao said.

"Good!" Vice President Ouyang nodded. "Then I'll be off. We'll keep each other informed as news comes in."

With that settled, Wei Zhao immediately passed the news to Liu Jinghan. With the Cultivators' Guild's protection, after all, Liu Jinghan would no longer need to fear petty schemers with ill intentions.

Vice President Ouyang was not idle either. The moment he returned to his office, the first thing he did was dial the number of the elder behind him!

"Xiao Nong, what is it?" A deep, resonant male voice came over the line—it was Vice President Ouyang's elder, the Second Honorary Supreme President!

"Second Grandfather, I have something important to report to you." Vice President Ouyang's name was Ouyang Nong, though he had all but forgotten it. Only his Second Grandfather still called him by that name; everyone else, even the First Honorary Supreme President, addressed him formally as Vice President Ouyang.

"Oh? What is it?" The Second Honorary Supreme President was named Ouyang Chuanqi, and he was indeed a legend! The Cultivators' Guild's Supreme Elder Council admitted almost no outsiders. Apart from the core disciples designated from within, no matter how outstanding other disciples might be, the best they could do was become president of the Cultivators' Guild—there could be no further advancement.

Ouyang Chuanqi, however, had once been an ordinary disciple. During a trial on the Ancient Isle, he was said to have been noticed by chance by a high-ranking member of the Cultivators' Guild, who took him as a disciple. From then on his rise was meteoric: he not only became a peak great perfection expert of the late Heaven Rank, but also took the seat of Second Honorary Supreme President!

One had to understand: there were only three honorary presidents; all the rest were elders. Ouyang Chuanqi was indeed a legend! Yet Ouyang Chuanqi had no sons, and the only outstanding member of the Ouyang family was Ouyang Nong, whom he had always carefully cultivated, hoping to raise him into ***. But to his surprise, Ouyang Nong had fared badly in the trial *** and been gravely wounded by the Pure Yin Heavenly Venerable, a disciple of the Tomorrow Upon Tomorrow Sect! (To be continued)
