Chapter 2683 — The Failure of Making the Best of a Mistake
It was no wonder Yuning said what she did. Back when they had gone out for training, Yang Huaijun had actually harbored some feelings for Yuning as well; it was only that Yuning had chosen Wei Zhao, so he never gave voice to them and buried them in his heart instead. This was also why Wei Zhao had said what he did to Yang Huaijun when the two first met.
Naturally, Yuning knew this too. She had seen Yang Huaijun's feelings for her back then, but both understood that they could only ever keep to the sort of relationship a brother and sister share.
"???! !!!" Wei Zhao was utterly astonished—how had he become Brother Yang? Had Yuning lost her senses? But then he reflected that Yuning had been dosed with Zhao Qibing's aphrodisiac, so it was only natural she would be muddled. Still, who was this Brother Yang she had mistaken him for?
Not knowing whether to laugh or cry, Wei Zhao could only halt what he had been about to do next. He pointed at himself and asked Yuning, "Who am I?"
"Jun, you're saying Wei Zhao had something to do and left first?" Yuning still could not hear what Wei Zhao was saying; she only spoke in a hazy, muddled way.
"..." By now Wei Zhao had more or less understood—so Yuning had taken him for Yang Huaijun!
"Jun, I..." The desire in Yuning's body was growing more unbearable by the moment, but the man she loved was Wei Zhao. Facing Yang Huaijun, she truly did not know what to say. Fidgeting, she said, "Could you help me find Wei Zhao and bring him back?"
Hearing her words, Wei Zhao now pieced together a few more things! Zhao Qibing's aphrodisiac was very likely a drug that plunged a person into illusion. Yuning had surely taken the earlier Zhao Qibing for Wei Zhao; then, when Wei Zhao himself arrived, her first impression had led her to take him for Yang Huaijun!
At this realization, Wei Zhao was momentarily speechless! That Zhao Qibing really was a bastard. Wei Zhao had meant to make the best of a mistake and let something happen between himself and Yuning, but now Yuning thought he was Yang Huaijun—so what the hell was there left to happen?
If he simply forced Yuning down, there was no telling what extreme reaction she might have, so Wei Zhao had no choice but to abandon his earlier idea.
"I'll purge the poison for you, and Wei Zhao will be back in a little while." Wei Zhao sighed, cursing Zhao Qibing in his heart. He had finally steeled himself to push Yuning down, and the little wretch had to go and concoct such a damnable drug!
Wei Zhao thought that breaking his third leg back then had been too light a punishment. He wanted to break every bone in the man's body—let him practice a thousand legs? More like a thousand bones.
Wei Zhao took the silver needles from his pocket, sterilized them with true qi, then sat down at the head of Yuning's bed and began swiftly inserting them into her body. Even so, he could not avoid touching the sensitive places on her body. After all, the aphrodisiac the Medicine King had formulated was nothing much in Wei Zhao's eyes, yet it was far stronger than ordinary aphrodisiacs; if he relied on acupuncture alone without coordinating it with acupoint massage, the toxins would not be expelled quickly.
Yuning had been about to stop "Yang Huaijun" from doing her "violence," but then she saw him take out silver needles and begin to apply acupuncture. And the desire in her body eased greatly the instant his needles pierced her skin!
Even so, Yuning still wanted to resist; she wanted to push Yang Huaijun's hands away and keep him from touching her. But she had not the slightest strength, and could only let him do as he would...
Yuning did not know what Yang Huaijun meant to do, but she was powerless to resist, and the desire in her body made her miserable. She could only clench her teeth and shut her eyes, refusing to think of it, while in her heart she prayed that Wei Zhao would hurry back and stop whatever Yang Huaijun was doing!
Though Yuning supposed Yang Huaijun would not casually do anything lewd, no matter what, his hands had touched her, and she truly did not want this! Even in a dream, she did not want it!
What kind of dream was this? This dream was simply a nightmare!
Even as Yuning prayed for Wei Zhao to hurry back, she prayed for this dream to end as quickly as possible! If Wei Zhao was not coming back, then she would rather wake up, for there was no joy left in the dream.
Yet as time passed, Yuning found the desire in her body growing fainter and fainter, and her thoughts seeming to grow clearer and clearer. It seemed... she was not so muddled, nor so drowsy anymore. Could it be... this was not a dream?
As Yuning's mind gradually cleared, she regained her usual shrewdness. She knew that when a person dreams, they ought not to realize they are dreaming—and besides, what she felt now did not seem to be a dream at all!
When Yang Huaijun's silver needles pierced her body, it had not hurt especially, but there had still been a sense of pain—and she had heard that one feels no pain in a dream. So Yuning found it rather strange. Could this really not be a dream?
At that thought, Yuning flung her eyes open, meaning to rebuke Yang Huaijun and tell him not to touch her. But when she opened her eyes and looked at him, what she saw was not the Yang Huaijun of before, but a hazy, blurred figure that was somehow familiar.
As the scene before Yuning's eyes shifted, the figure grew clearer and clearer! It was Wei Zhao! It was actually Wei Zhao!
How could that be? It had plainly been Yang Huaijun who came before—how had he suddenly become Wei Zhao? Yuning was struck dumb for a moment. Yet though her mind had recovered, her speech and her strength had drained away considerably as the drug's toxins were expelled from her body, leaving her unable to open her mouth and speak!
In truth, there was no help for it. Wei Zhao gathered the drug's toxins in Yuning's body together by means of acupuncture and massage, then drove them out of her system—but inevitably, this had to draw on Yuning's own physical strength to accomplish.
Yuning had already burned through a good deal of strength when the fire of desire had consumed her earlier, and now it was even worse—which was why she had not a bit of strength left!
And as the drug's toxins in her body dwindled, Yuning grew clearer still, and the memories that had been conjured by illusion now turned real! This was what happened after the drug's effects wore off: everything one had seen and heard before would be released from memory, and the illusory scenes that had been conjured would be distinguished by the person involved.
This too was the wonder of the Medicine King's drug—it ensured that after Yuning awoke, she would know that the man who had been intimate with her was in fact Zhao Qibing, and that everything before had been a falsehood conjured by her own mind. But the deed had already become an established fact, so however unwilling Yuning was, she could only swallow her loss in silence!
