Chapter 2591 — Not Smart Enough

The Blossom Guardian

"So, uh... Wei Zhao, old boy, fancy a bit of fun for a change?" Right Coiled Tiger was no fool. Naturally he wasn't about to come right out and say he'd lost the data and wanted another copy—that would almost certainly get him nothing from Wei Zhao—so he tried a different tack.

"Are you sick in the head? I'm busy here. Is this important or not? If not, I'm hanging up!" Wei Zhao said, baffled.

"No—wait, hold on!" Right Coiled Tiger said hurriedly. "Wei Zhao, don't hang up yet. I've got something to say!"

"Then say it," Wei Zhao said.

"Here's the thing, Wei Zhao. Don't you want to give Zhao Qibing a good beating? I hear you and Zhao Qibing are at each other's throats. I can offer you a chance, you know!" Right Coiled Tiger said temptingly.

"No, I don't. If that's all, I'm hanging up." Wei Zhao hung up on the spot.

Damn! This makes no sense! Right Coiled Tiger stared at the phone that had just been hung up on him, hesitated a moment, then dialed again. "Wei Zhao, don't hang up. Just hear me out first!"

"Oh, fine, go ahead." Wei Zhao held the phone while he went on brewing Wang Xinyan's medicine. "It's not like it's costing me anything."

"You give Zhao Qibing a beating—break both his legs, say. I guarantee he won't fight back, and it won't cost you a thing. All you have to do is send me that alchemy data you gave me before, one more time. How about it? Pretty good deal, eh?" Right Coiled Tiger had originally hoped to squeeze something more out of Wei Zhao, but seeing that Wei Zhao wasn't interested, he lowered his demands—just the data would do.

"Break both his legs?" Wei Zhao was briefly taken aback, then laughed. "I wouldn't do it if you paid me, and you want me to give you something on top of that? Are you dreaming? If that's all, I'm hanging up. Goodbye!"

Right Coiled Tiger frowned, utterly puzzled. By any reasonable reckoning, getting Wei Zhao to break Zhao Qibing's legs ought to be tremendous fun. If Wei Zhao had told him to beat the man up for free, he'd have struck without a moment's hesitation—he'd even have paid for the privilege!

Yet Wei Zhao had refused? Said he wouldn't do it even for money? Right Coiled Tiger began to suspect the matter wasn't as simple as he'd imagined, and that trading for the data this way simply wouldn't work. With no other choice, he called Wei Zhao once more.

"Right Coiled Tiger, are you ever going to give it a rest? If you've got money to burn, top up my phone credit!" Wei Zhao said impatiently.

"Sure, I've got money to burn. How much do you want? As long as you send me that data again, I'll top you up!" Right Coiled Tiger said.

"Top me up a million and I'll give you the data!" Wei Zhao hung up immediately.

A million? Right Coiled Tiger clicked his tongue. That was no small sum! Still, for the second young master of the Right family, it truly wasn't much. It was just that spending money this way stung a little—lose a phone, and end up a million out of pocket. Could anyone be that unlucky?

Still, a top-up was a top-up. Right Coiled Tiger wasn't afraid of Wei Zhao naming a price—what he feared was Wei Zhao refusing to name one. As long as a price was named, Right Coiled Tiger would do his utmost to meet it. He had Yellow Hair put a million yuan of phone credit on Wei Zhao's number right away.

Wei Zhao was in the middle of brewing medicine when his phone chimed with a text alert. He assumed Right Coiled Tiger had given up calling and switched to harassing him by text, but when he opened it, he was stunned. The message read: Dear customer, your payment has been received. The amount paid this time is 1,000,000.00 yuan.

What? A million yuan in phone credit? Wei Zhao's eyes went wide as he stared at the number on the screen. Surely the system hadn't sent it by mistake? As he puzzled over it, Right Coiled Tiger's call came through again.

"Right Coiled Tiger, what more do you want?" Wei Zhao asked, exasperated.

"Wei Zhao, I've put a million yuan of phone credit on your account. You've got to keep your word—time to send me that data, isn't it?" Right Coiled Tiger asked.

"You're the one who paid it?" Wei Zhao broke into a sweat. He'd only been fobbing Right Coiled Tiger off with a joke—he hadn't expected the fellow to take it seriously. "I was only joking with you!"

"I wasn't joking. Hurry up and send me the data. If you don't, I've kept the payment receipt, and I'll tell Leader Bai you cheated a fellow student!" Right Coiled Tiger said anxiously.

"Fine, fine. The earlier data, right? I'll have Jingjing send you another copy." Still, Wei Zhao found it odd. Right Coiled Tiger clearly already had a copy—why spend a million yuan for another? Did the man have so much money he didn't know what to do with it? So he asked, "What happened to the data I sent you before?"

"The earlier data... I was clumsy and deleted it by accident!" Right Coiled Tiger was too embarrassed to admit he'd been robbed, so he claimed he'd deleted it by mistake.

"Oh." Wei Zhao didn't press further, thinking to himself that Right Coiled Tiger really was a piece of work—one clumsy move and a million yuan was gone.

After hanging up, Wei Zhao called Han Jingyi and had her send Right Coiled Tiger another copy. When Right Coiled Tiger received the email, he finally breathed a sigh of relief. Good things really do come after many trials!

Right Coiled Tiger opened his phone and was about to download the message when his expression suddenly changed and he cursed aloud: "What the hell! It's an email! An email! Not a text message!"

Right Coiled Tiger discovered that the email Han Jingyi had sent earlier was still sitting there in his cloud mailbox. He staggered and nearly fell to his knees. Why hadn't he thought of that before? His own intelligence really was a bit on the chicken-catching side. A million yuan—just gone, like that. And the cruelest part was that he'd even agreed on the spot to some baffling request from Zhao Qibing, promising that Wei Zhao would break his legs for him!

Right Coiled Tiger still had no idea how he was supposed to make that happen. If he begged Wei Zhao, there was no telling what fine thing he'd have to hand over—the man was like a vampire, never letting fly the hawk until he saw the rabbit. But what could he do, when he needed a favor from him?

With a mournful sigh, Right Coiled Tiger got into the car and drove off with Yellow Hair and Purple Hair toward the Hidden Right Family estate.

Originally he'd planned to ask his grandfather for the million once he got home, but now he didn't dare bring it up. What he'd done was far too foolish. Right Coiled Tiger could only grit his teeth and cover it out of his own pocket money.

The journey back to the Hidden Right Family went smoothly enough. After Old Master Right read the data, he was full of praise, repeatedly telling Right Coiled Tiger what a fine job he'd done, trading for a treasure beyond price. The material was exceedingly precious, and it gave Old Master Right a great deal of inspiration.
