Chapter 2434 — Right Panhu's New Plan
"Neither Jingjing nor I care much for snacks," Wei Zhao said with a smile.
"Brother Lin here is all about healthy eating. Bringing along this much high-calorie junk the way we did really isn't all that healthy — there are restaurants at the ski resort too," Bai Weituo said.
"Then why did you bring so much?" He Meiyue pointed at Bai Weituo's backpack and shot him a glare.
"I brought it for you, didn't I..." Bai Weituo said with a bitter smile.
Once everyone was settled in their seats, the bus slowly pulled out of the school grounds, and before long it had left the city and merged onto the highway.
"Bai Weituo, come hand out the winter-trip safety manuals to everyone," the team leader surnamed Bai beckoned to Bai Weituo and said. "This is our first group outing in our university life. I hope that while you enjoy yourselves, you keep safety in mind and absolutely refrain from doing anything dangerous! The winter-trip manual contains some rules and regulations, as well as emergency procedures for when you run into danger out in the wild in winter. I hope everyone reads it carefully once they have it in hand!"
Bai Weituo hurried forward, took the winter-trip manuals from the team leader's hands, and began distributing them seat by seat.
After Wei Zhao received his manual, he flipped through it casually and found it quite well compiled. It contained many methods for handling danger and emergencies, very suitable for this winter trip — though compared with the knowledge Wei Zhao already possessed, it all seemed a bit child's play.
Still, Wei Zhao said to Han Jingyi and Wang Xinyan, "This manual is quite useful. You two should read it carefully."
"Mm-hm!" Han Jingyi put down the tablet in her hands and opened the manual, reading it carefully, while Wang Xinyan, hearing Wei Zhao's words, began leafing through hers as well.
He Meiyue, by contrast, seemed rather listless; she gave it a cursory glance and put it away.
Wei Zhao said nothing more. After all, He Meiyue was not his girlfriend, and the knowledge in the manual was merely a precaution — on a school-organized winter trip, as long as one avoided dangerous places, danger generally did not arise.
Before long, the bus suddenly slowed, and in the end it came to a complete stop.
The team leader surnamed Bai received a call from the vehicle ahead, frowned slightly, and then announced to the students on the bus, "Everyone may need to wait patiently for a while. There's been an accident up ahead on the highway — a timber truck overturned, and the logs have blocked the entire road. They're handling it on an emergency basis..."
"What?" A groan of dismay went up from the students. The winter trip was only two days long to begin with — leave this morning, return tomorrow evening — but with this traffic jam, they probably would not arrive until the afternoon, invisibly cutting into their time to enjoy themselves.
"Damn it!" When Right Panhu saw the situation before him, his brows knitted at once. He had arranged a fine piece of theater along the route, and never expected to run into such a wretched mess!
This time, Right Panhu had arranged for an early Heaven-rank expert from the Hidden Right family to stage a robbery along the way. His target, of course, was not money, but the tablet in Han Jingyi's hands!
Through several days of observation, Right Panhu had discovered that Han Jingyi seemed to have scanned all the alchemist's notes into her tablet, and in that tablet he had found some material he had never seen before!
Though it was only a fleeting glimpse, in his heart he was certain there was something good in Han Jingyi's tablet! Moreover, Han Jingyi had written all her alchemy insights into that tablet as well. Once he got his hands on it, he would be able to gauge her true level in alchemy!
As for Wei Zhao's ability to fight above his rank against Heaven-rank experts, Right Panhu was naturally well aware — but he was not afraid, because in the cramped space of the bus, Right Panhu did not believe Wei Zhao would dare make a move!
When the time came, all the Heaven-rank expert had to do was release a breath of his true strength so that Wei Zhao knew he was Heaven-rank, and Wei Zhao would not dare act rashly. After all, in a fight with a Heaven-rank expert, the aura released would surely injure the innocent — especially with so many classmates on the bus!
Besides, the Heaven-rank expert's aim was robbery. Wei Zhao might not necessarily give chase, and even if he skipped the winter trip to pursue, he might not catch a Heaven-rank expert fleeing at speed.
One could say his plan was well thought out: by exploiting the cramped space on the bus and the difficulty of pursuit during the winter trip, he would make Wei Zhao and Han Jingyi swallow a silent grievance! But he had never imagined an accident would occur up ahead!
Once the accident was cleared, with so many vehicles bunched together, traffic on the highway would surely crawl, and the Heaven-rank expert over there would have no way to set up a roadblock!
"Brother Right, the timing really is unfortunate. Does that mean our plan is ruined?" Kang Jinglong was feeling rather displeased as well! He had no idea that Right Panhu intended to rob Han Jingyi's tablet — Right Panhu had not told him that part.
Right Panhu had only told him that he had arranged a grand highway-robbery drama: the robber would snatch things from Wei Zhao and Han Jingyi, then deliberately pick a fight with Wang Xinyan! At that moment, before Wei Zhao could act, Kang Jinglong would step forward first and confront the robber.
Then the robber, flying into a rage, would stab Kang Jinglong once, be frightened by the sight of blood, and leap from the bus to flee!
This was also part of Right Panhu's design to let the robber escape quickly — one could say he had made use of Kang Jinglong as well.
As for that stab, it would of course land somewhere unimportant, and Kang Jinglong had the deluxe edition of the Golden Wound Medicine, which could swiftly stop the bleeding and heal the wound, so there was no need to worry about any problems.
In this way, Kang Jinglong's heroic image would be born, giving Wang Xinyan a good impression of a hero saving the beauty! The routine was clichéd, but it worked — hero-rescues-damsel was generally a surefire weapon for wooing a girl, unstoppable wherever it was deployed.
And if Wei Zhao saw through the trick and said the robber was a Heaven-rank expert, Kang Jinglong had a counter: he would say Wei Zhao was unwilling to accept it and was deliberately talking nonsense — what kind of existence was a Heaven-rank expert? Why would one come onto a bus to rob people?
By then, even if Wang Xinyan was half doubtful, Kang Jinglong's version would probably be the more persuasive. And though Wei Zhao was on relatively close terms with Wang Xinyan, she could judge for herself — what Heaven-rank expert would be so idle as to block a road and rob people?
"Who knows?" Right Panhu was somewhat helpless too. No one could have foreseen such a thing happening on the road!
While Kang Jinglong and Right Panhu were grumbling on this side, over there the bus door opened. Judging by the current state of the accident, they would not be moving anytime soon, so many students asked to get off and stretch their legs.
