Chapter 1205 — Feng Xiaoxiao Has Fainted Again
Tang Zhi was at something of a loss for words herself. Naturally she knew Wei Zhao could never harbor any sordid thoughts about Xiaofen; she had heard that when Wei Zhao treated Gu Mengyao, Gu was stark naked and he still laid no finger on her—so how could he have any improper designs on Xiaofen?
Tang Zhi therefore trusted Wei Zhao completely. She said to Xiaofen, "Xiaofen, shall I help you take off your trousers?"
"Mm..." Xiaofen nodded. Shy though she was, she knew perfectly well that Wei Zhao meant well and could not possibly have any ideas about her! She and Tang Zhi were simply not in the same league, and Tang Zhi was right there beside them; unless Wei Zhao was blind, why would he take an interest in her!
At the thought, Xiaofen stopped being coy. She reached down and untied her sash, and with Tang Zhi's help pulled off her trousers, baring a pair of pale, shapely legs—quite sexy and lovely indeed.
Tang Zhi and Xiaofen both stole a glance at Wei Zhao and found his eyes clear, without so much as a flicker of desire; he was intent on studying where to cast the needles. Kang Xiaofeng, by contrast, looked ready to drool, which made Tang Zhi smile faintly, while Xiaofen could only look helpless.
Glaring at Kang Xiaofeng, Xiaofen said, "Can't you behave yourself for once?"
"Hehe, I was just thinking—once your legs are better, my wife, you'll be a first-rate beauty. I've really struck lucky!" Kang Xiaofeng said with a wicked grin.
Xiaofen turned her head away and ignored him.
Although Xiaofen and Kang Xiaofeng had been together for a good while now, the two had never crossed that line. Not that Kang Xiaofeng didn't want to—he merely judged the moment wrong. The knot in Xiaofen's heart had been untied, but her leg was still not fully healed, and in such a state Xiaofen's mind would surely have been ill at ease.
So at the sight of the lovely legs Xiaofen had just bared, Kang Xiaofeng found himself drooling a little.
"Stop laughing. Go hold your wife and tell her some jokes or something," Wei Zhao instructed. "It will hurt a great deal when I insert the needles in a moment. Distract her attention!"
"Oh, right!" At Wei Zhao's words Kang Xiaofeng hurried over, gathered Xiaofen in his arms and began telling her jokes: "Once upon a time there was a man named Zhong Yongliang, and he fell for the school beauty of his class, Gu Mengyao..."
Kang Xiaofeng proceeded to recount Zhong Yongliang's embarrassing mishaps—tales from his own class that Xiaofen knew nothing of. Xiaofen had never been to high school, yet she listened now with rapt delight.
Wei Zhao's needles flashed down with blinding speed. Xiaofen bared her teeth in agony, but Kang Xiaofeng's chatter diverted a good share of her attention, so the treatment went on very smoothly indeed.
Stories about Wei Zhao were plentiful at the school, but in the past Tang Zhi had disliked and even been repelled by him, so she had hardly paid any of them attention. Later, after she and Wei Zhao got together, Wei Zhao had grown low-key, and the tales about him had actually grown fewer!
So the business of Wei Zhao dousing Zhong Yongliang and his cronies with urine in the restroom, and of his laying into Brother Black Panther during morning exercises—Tang Zhi had known next to nothing of either. Hearing Kang Xiaofeng tell them now, even Tang Zhi, sitting to one side, could not help bursting out laughing.
"Who would have thought this Zhong Yongliang could be so unlucky?" Tang Zhi exclaimed with a sigh. Still, any villain who crossed Wei Zhao was bound to come to grief—hadn't Zou Ruoming, Zhao Qibing and the rest all been taught a lesson by him?
"Heh heh..." Wei Zhao smiled and withdrew all the silver needles from Xiaofen's legs. "There. Get down and have a walk—let's see how it goes."
"Already done?" Xiaofen's forehead was by now drenched in sweat with the pain. Though she had hoped Wei Zhao would finish the treatment sooner, she had also secretly wished he could cure her in a single stroke; she wanted so badly to become a normal person, more than anything!
"Yes. Xiaobo, take her for a walk and see. Support her—don't let her fall..." Wei Zhao cautioned.
No sooner had Wei Zhao's voice fallen than his phone rang.
He took the handset out and glanced at the caller ID, and froze for an instant. The call was from Feng Tianlong. What could he possibly want at this hour?
"Hello, Uncle Feng!" Wei Zhao answered swiftly.
"Xiao Yi, where are you? Xiaoxiao has fainted again! Can you come as quickly as you can? The doctors here all say there's nothing they can do..." Feng Tianlong's voice had cracked, thick with grief and urgency.
"What? Where is Xiaoxiao?" Wei Zhao's heart gave a lurch. He had known all along that this day might not be far off—yet he had not expected it to come so soon!
"I'm at her apartment. Can you come now? Shall I send Xiao Li to pick you up?" Feng Tianlong asked tensely.
"No need—I'll be right there! Don't worry, Uncle Feng; I'll arrive in a moment, and everything will be fine!" Wei Zhao hung up, his brows knotted into a knot. Though he had reassured Feng Tianlong that Feng Xiaoxiao would be all right, in truth he hadn't the least confidence of his own!
"Wei Zhao, what is it? What's happened?" Seeing the change that came over Wei Zhao's face, Tang Zhi's heart clenched and she asked at once.
"Yeah, boss—did you run into some trouble?" Kang Xiaofeng too asked hurriedly.
"Xiaoxiao has fainted again. I need to go and look in on her," Wei Zhao said. "Yunyun, tell Auntie for me that I won't be staying for dinner tonight—my apologies to her. I'm off!"
"Wait—I'll come with you!" At Wei Zhao's words Tang Zhi was seized with worry too, afraid that something had befallen Feng Xiaoxiao.
"Well—very well!" Seeing the deep concern in Tang Zhi's eyes, Wei Zhao knew she was not putting on an act; she was genuinely worried about Feng Xiaoxiao. Ordinarily, for most girls, a rival competing for one's boyfriend might just drop dead, and one would be glad of it—why would one care?
But Tang Zhi was different. Tang Zhi truly cared about Feng Xiaoxiao, exactly as she had truly worried when Gu Mengyao was poisoned the last time. None of it was feigned; these were Tang Zhi's own honest feelings, through and through.
Wei Zhao felt blessed—to have such a generous and kind-hearted girlfriend!
"Boss, I'd like to go too..." Kang Xiaofeng and Feng Xiaoxiao got along quite well in ordinary times; back when Feng Xiaoxiao had first set out to court Wei Zhao, he had even offered her schemes and advice. So hearing that she had fainted, Kang Xiaofeng too wanted to go and see.
"You and Xiaofen stay here. Her leg has just healed—keep her company for a walk. Yunyun and I will go." Wei Zhao declined Kang Xiaofeng's offer, for he knew full well that this time Feng Xiaoxiao's collapse was no ordinary fainting spell, but possibly a matter of life and death; the fewer people who went, the better.
