Chapter 817 — Three Diamond Cards

The Blossom Guardian

"I think so?" Wei Zhao began rummaging through his wallet.

The guard blinked. He thought so? Well — was it or wasn't it? Yet though he was puzzled, he showed no trace of disdain, which said a good deal about how well the Gu Group trained its employees.

Gu Mengyao found it rather amusing. Even if Wei Zhao had no VIP card, one phone call to Uncle Qing would have gotten him in — to say nothing of the fact that he did have a membership card. But one glance at Gou Huli in the distance told her exactly what Wei Zhao was up to: he was deliberately stringing that woman along for a little fun.

Sure enough, when Gou Huli saw Wei Zhao, after the guard's inquiry, begin "putting on an act" of searching for his membership card, she found it utterly hilarious. She got out of her car and came waddling over toward the barrier.

The heavy makeup on Gou Huli's face had been washed clean away by the earlier blast from Gu Mengyao's and Shen Yushu's water pistols, and in the car she had been forced to wipe it all off with wet wipes. With no makeup to conceal it, the marks of time on her face were laid bare for all to see — she was already past thirty, no longer young. But she had been the other woman who clawed her way into a wealthy family and got herself made legitimate, and so she carried within her an indescribable sense of superiority, the smugness of a sparrow that had shot up overnight into a phoenix. She was forever trying to show that she was different from the rest.

"What are you looking for? Your membership card for this place, is it?" Gou Huli watched Wei Zhao fumbling about with a cold sneer, then turned to the parking lot guard. "Don't wait for him to finish. Just chase him out of here! I've seen plenty of these types — no money and no class, but they still want to come out and put on a show. He'll rummage around for ages, then tell you he left his membership card at home, then drive off coolly as if nothing happened! The truth is, he doesn't have a membership card at all!"

The guard was speechless. Whether the man had a card or not, what business was it of yours? Weren't you two strangers? You run your mouth like this, and if he gets out of that car and clocks you one, am I supposed to stop him or not?

True, the guard had seen people who had forgotten their cards before, but toward them he always kept a respectful manner — who was to say whether they had really forgotten it or not?

"I think I left it at home," Wei Zhao said with a shrug, looking at the guard apologetically.

"Ha!" Hearing Wei Zhao's words, Gou Huli burst out laughing. "Wahahaha! Guard, what did I tell you? They don't have membership cards, do they? I told you ages ago that they came here to put on a show, not because they really have cards. I told you to chase them out, and you didn't believe me. Well? Was I wrong? Don't be fooled by the fact that the three of them drove up in a car — the truth is, they're low-class people. The man in front is a gardener; the two women behind are nannies. They're all slaves and servants — how could they come shopping in a classy place like this?"

"Oh, I think my membership card might be above the sun visor in the passenger seat. Let me have a look?" Shen Yushu, being small, leaned her body through from the back seat and began searching above the passenger-side sun visor.

But Gu Mengyao pulled a membership card from her purse and handed it to the guard, saying with a smile, "Just swipe mine."

Gu Mengyao had seen that Wei Zhao's wallet clearly did contain a membership card — he had simply claimed not to find it, which meant he was toying with Gou Huli, luring her out of her car to spout her nonsense. So Gu Mengyao had no qualms about producing her own card to give Gou Huli a slap in the face.

Sure enough, the moment Gou Huli saw Gu Mengyao take out a membership card, her expression changed. This little nanny had a membership card? How could that be? She rushed to say, "Hey, guard, look carefully! Don't let them cheat you — they're all low-class people, how could they possibly have membership cards for this place?"

The guard saw that Gu Mengyao was very pretty and had a sweet smile, which at once won his goodwill. He thought to himself: Yours is real, so hers must be fake? What sort of logic is that?

Just then Shen Yushu found her membership card too, and passed it to the guard. "I found mine as well..."

The guard could not help but start. He looked at Shen Yushu's card — a diamond card as well! He was genuinely a little taken aback. What sort of customers were these, to have two diamond membership cards?!

Though the guard was one of the lowest-ranking employees in the group, every day he stood in the parking lot receiving the members who came to shop at the Pengzhan Commercial Building, and he had seen a great many membership cards. He knew very well how rare diamond cards were — sometimes days would pass without a single diamond card appearing here!

Yet today, the passengers in this inconspicuous little Beetle had produced two diamond cards!

Only, what surprised him was still to come. Wei Zhao too pulled a membership card from his wallet and handed it to the guard, saying with a smile, "Sorry, I found mine too — though it looks like we won't be needing them after all?"

The guard looked at Wei Zhao's membership card — a diamond card as well! He was dumbstruck. No way? Three diamond membership cards — how was that possible? He could hardly believe his own eyes. He rubbed them, found he had not been mistaken, and said in astonishment, "All three are diamond membership cards? One would have been enough — there's no need for so many..."

"What?!" Gou Huli, over there, had heard the guard's words as well and was struck dumb. But there was no way she would believe that Wei Zhao and the others could produce three membership cards, and she cried out in flat disbelief, "Hahahaha, how fake is that? Conjuring up three diamond cards? As if! Who are you trying to fool? The Pengzhan Commercial Building has only issued a few dozen diamond membership cards in total — how could you three possibly have three of them? Guard, do you think that's even possible?"

The guard was somewhat puzzled and stunned by Wei Zhao and the others as well, for he too could hardly believe that the people in one car had produced three membership cards. Still, from the look of them, the cards were no different from the real thing, so shocked as he was, he betrayed nothing improper in his manner.

After all, whether a membership card was genuine or not could be settled with a single swipe through the machine, so there was no rush to judge.

"Sir, miss, one card is all you need..." The guard took the membership card from Gu Mengyao, who had been the first to hand one to him, and swiped it through the machine beside him. In an instant, the card's tier and the cardholder's detailed information appeared on the machine's screen!

Yet the guard had no sooner glanced at the name on the card than his eyes flew wide and he was struck speechless with shock!
