Chapter 766 — Negotiation Shu
"Two million? That little?" Shen Yushu spoke up. She was turning it over in her mind: she could not have come for nothing, could she? She had to give full play to Negotiation Shu's advantages! But the truth was, she really did not know how to negotiate. Claiming to be Negotiation Shu that morning had been nothing but nonsense; in reality she had simply come along for the fun of it.
"Of course, two million is only the figure we proposed. If you find it unsuitable, we are open to discussion." Su Jiaonang had not expected that before Tang's mother could say a word, Shen Yushu had spoken first!
Even so, he kept one principle firmly in mind at this moment: no matter what demands the other side's people raised, the first order of business was to steady them. Once Zhang Yuzhou had finished installing the time bomb, everything would be smooth sailing.
"You should at least give us two hundred million, shouldn't you?" Shen Yushu thought it over, and suddenly recalled a phrase often heard on television — ask for the sky, settle on the ground. So she simply threw out the figure of two hundred million, which promptly sent Su Jiaonang rolling his eyes in shock!
Two hundred million? Why don't you just go rob a bank? Two hundred million? Isn't that a bit much? Is that place of yours a bungalow or a skyscraper?
Zhao Qibing frowned as well. Although he had already decided that he could agree to a reasonable number of Wei Zhao's outrageous demands, surely it could not go this far beyond reason? Two hundred million? What kind of joke was this? Even if he agreed, Wei Zhao would never believe it — it would only make him suspicious of his motives!
So Zhao Qibing could only say, "Little girl, at that price, you don't seem to be bargaining in good faith, do you?"
"Oh, but I heard your skyscraper went boom and collapsed, and you didn't even care — you just built another one!" Shen Yushu blinked and said, "A building like that must be worth at least a hundred million, right? So asking for two hundred million isn't much at all!"
Zhao Qibing's eyes went wide. What kind of nonsense was this? Those were two entirely different matters! And "the skyscraper went boom and collapsed"? Did he want it to collapse? If not for that bastard Wei Zhao, why would his skyscraper ever have collapsed?
Zhao Qibing was so furious his teeth itched; he wished he could bite Wei Zhao to death in one go.
"The skyscraper is worth only a hundred million, and your bungalow — is it a house of gold and silver? You think it's worth two hundred million?" Zhao Qibing scowled.
Beside them, Tang's mother's eyes had gone wide as well. Were these two here to negotiate at all? They had plainly come to make trouble! If they kept this up and made the man angry, what would happen if he refused to pay a single cent?
But Wei Zhao had not spoken a word, and Tang's mother had no way to say anything either. She could only pray silently: two million would already be good enough — please don't let even the two million go down the drain!
"If your skyscraper collapses one more time, that makes two hundred million, doesn't it?" Shen Yushu counted on her fingers, doing her arithmetic. "When is your skyscraper going to collapse next? Be sure not to forget to invite me to watch."
"What kind of calculation is that?" Zhao Qibing was beside himself with rage. He wanted to demand whether Shen Yushu had come to make trouble. But then he remembered that these people before him would soon be blown to bits by the bomb, and his mood instantly turned cheerful again.
"Oh, then how much will you pay?" Shen Yushu could not be bothered to talk to him anymore; it was not fun at all.
"Three million — that is the absolute limit of what we can bear!" Zhao Qibing held up three fingers. Naturally, he could not simply hand Wei Zhao that many advantages all at once. He had to stall for as much time as possible, waiting for Zhang Yuzhou to finish installing the time bomb.
"So stingy — no wonder your skyscraper collapsed. If you keep being this stingy, it'll collapse again in a bit." Shen Yushu's mind was filled entirely with collapsing skyscrapers, so that was the only topic she ever brought up.
"Even if it collapses, that's no concern of yours." Zhao Qibing was seething. This little girl's conscience was rotten to the core — why did she keep wishing for my skyscraper to collapse? What good would a collapsed skyscraper do you?
Of course, if Zhao Qibing had known that Shen Yushu wanted the skyscraper to collapse purely for the amusement of watching it, one wonders whether he would have dropped dead on the spot from fury.
Tang's mother's heart skipped a beat. Three million! It had climbed by another million in the blink of an eye? No, surely not? Could this style of negotiating actually produce results? Tang's mother was rather astonished. Was this truly how rich people negotiated? Was she simply too ignorant of the wider world? Could it be that Shen Yushu was actually helping her family?
By now the doubt in Tang's mother's heart had vanished. Whatever method Shen Yushu used, so long as she could negotiate the compensation higher, that was enough — who cared what she said!
"Oh, Brother Arrow, he'll only give three million. I'm no good at this — you take over!" Shen Yushu felt that having talked him up by an extra million was already quite a feat.
Only, there was something slightly suggestive about Shen Yushu's words...
"I'm no good at this — you get on top!"
Wei Zhao broke out in a sweat at once. Why did it always feel like some kind of hint?
Gu Mengyao seemed to have caught the impropriety as well, but with Tang Zhi and her mother present, she could hardly say anything.
If Gu Mengyao could hear it, then Tang Zhi certainly could too. She glanced at Shen Yushu, unable to tell whether the words were deliberate or innocent. Tang Zhi had always felt that Shen Yushu was not nearly as foolish as she appeared — that she was playing some deeper game. Of course, Tang Zhi had no proof; on the surface, Shen Yushu really did seem foolish.
"Oh, right, I'll go up," Wei Zhao said, pretending he had not caught the implication.
As for Tang Zhi's mother, her mind was not on such things at all. Her attention was fixed entirely on that extra million; she had no thought to spare for anything else.
Zhao Qibing, Li Cihua, and Su Jiaonang were the same. Their focus was on keeping Wei Zhao and the others steady, to buy enough time for Zhang Yuzhou on the other side.
"That's enough, Zhao Qibing. Stop adding a million at a time and name your bottom line." Wei Zhao had no idea what game Zhao Qibing was playing, and so had no way of knowing where his bottom line lay.
Even now, Wei Zhao still could not quite see just why Zhao Qibing had summoned him here.
Was it merely to pay relocation compensation to Tang Zhi's family? Wei Zhao did not believe that for a moment — unless Zhao Qibing had water on the brain, and Li Cihua and Su Jiaonang along with him!
Besides, Zhao Qibing had raised the compensation from two million to three million so easily. If so, it seemed the figure could keep climbing.
"Five million. That's my bottom line," Zhao Qibing said. "But I have a condition as well."
"What condition?" Wei Zhao frowned. Was this finally the real reason he had been brought here?
"Keep your hands off the shantytown demolition! I'll give you five million, and you can take part of it to compensate whatever neighbors you're close to. But do not obstruct our company's demolition plan!" Zhao Qibing paused, then spoke with great solemnity.
