Chapter 656 — No Longer in Love with Arrow-Brand Bro

The Blossom Guardian

Shen Yushu carried Gu Mengyao into the school infirmary. She was just about to lay her down on one of the beds when she discovered several students already sprawled across them in every direction! What was more, many students and teachers were crowded inside the infirmary too, and from the look of things, something had happened.

"Another one?" The school doctor frowned the moment he saw Shen Yushu come in carrying Gu Mengyao, cold sweat beading on his forehead in his alarm. "How can there be so many? Why has the hospital ambulance not arrived yet?"

The students collapsing one after another had left the school doctor somewhat at a loss. He could not tell at all what was causing the fainting; the symptoms of every one of these students were much the same — a pale complexion and slightly rapid breathing.

"Dr. Li, how are things?" Dean of Discipline Wang Zhifeng had hurried over the moment he got word, and seeing the infirmary packed with teachers and students, he immediately knit his brows. "Teachers and students who have no business here, all of you out. Do not crowd in here — the air is bad!"

Wang Zhifeng's words carried weight. Teachers and students alike obediently filed out of the infirmary. But since those inside were, after all, their own class's students or good friends, none of these teachers and students felt easy about going far; they lingered in the corridor, unwilling to leave.

One person, however, did not go. Shen Yushu still held Gu Mengyao tightly, sitting anxiously at the corner of the bed. Wang Zhifeng knew her, so naturally he would not drive her out — but when he saw Gu Mengyao in her arms, he gave a start! Was this not the chairman's daughter? She had fainted too?

Sweat poured down Wang Zhifeng's forehead like rain. He had no time to ask questions; he hurriedly phoned the principal, Ding Binggong, and reported the situation there.

"Principal Ding, where are you? More than ten students at the school have fallen into unconsciousness, and among them is Chairman Chu's daughter, Gu Mengyao..." Wang Zhifeng could not handle this on his own; he could only call Ding Binggong.

Ding Binggong had gone to a meeting at the education bureau, so at noon he had not hurried back to school to eat; instead he had grabbed a bite outside with several other school principals. Now, receiving Wang Zhifeng's call, he was greatly alarmed. He could not even spare the time to explain to the other principals — he merely said, "Something has happened at the school," and hastily dragged his driver out of the restaurant and into the car. Only then did he continue asking, "Old Wang, what did you say? More than ten students have fainted? And Gu Mengyao too? What on earth is going on?"

"I only just got here myself, I am not clear on it yet! Dr. Li, what illness have these students actually contracted? How is it that so many students have collapsed all at once?" Only now did Wang Zhifeng find the chance to question the anxious Dr. Li beside him.

"Director Wang, I am not clear either. I have never seen symptoms like these, and I cannot even be certain whether it is an acute infectious disease. I have already called the emergency center; the hospital ambulance should be here soon!" Dr. Li said cautiously.

While Dr. Li was speaking, Wang Zhifeng had his phone on, so Ding Binggong on the other end heard every word clearly. His head gave a great "boom." If something went wrong at the school, never mind the damage to the school's reputation — even the group might well be dragged into it.

"Old Wang, I am on my way back right now. You must hold things steady — whatever you do, do not let anything happen to those students!" Ding Binggong ordered anxiously.

"I understand. I will do my best to keep the situation under control!" Wang Zhifeng nodded gravely, but he knew as well that the present situation was beyond what manpower could control — because even as he spoke on the phone, more unconscious students were being carried in by teachers, and not just one!

This gave Wang Zhifeng a splitting headache, and at the same time he was rapidly turning over in his mind what could be causing the students' condition! If the cause was not found, then students would keep collapsing in an endless stream, and by then it would be too late for anything.

But even Dr. Li did not know the specifics — so how could he, a man who had never studied medicine, possibly know them?

So while Wang Zhifeng waited for Ding Binggong, all he could do was pray that the hospital ambulance would come a little sooner, so the students could be taken to a proper hospital for treatment as early as possible.

Shen Yushu was somewhat dumbstruck. She had assumed Gu Mengyao had fainted from anger at her, but now it seemed that was not the case at all? It seemed many people had the same symptoms as Yaoyao-jie. What had happened to all of them?

Yet despite this, Shen Yushu only grew more worried! If it were merely fainting from anger, that would be easy to deal with — but now it was probably not from anger at all, but from some other cause. Shen Yushu grew anxious, and instinctively thought of Wei Zhao!

The last time she herself had been at death's door, it was Wei Zhao who had saved her, so she resolved to find Wei Zhao to save Gu Mengyao!

Shen Yushu quickly took out her phone and dialed Wei Zhao's number. But she waited and waited, until the call cut off automatically — Wei Zhao had not answered. Shen Yushu called again, and it was the same: no one picked up!

"Damn you, Arrow-Brand Bro, where have you gone? If anything happens to Yaoyao-jie, I have decided I will never like you again! I will never forgive you as long as I live!" Shen Yushu muttered furiously to herself.

During the time they waited for the ambulance, several more students were sent into the infirmary unconscious. By now a total of twenty-eight students were in the infirmary waiting for the ambulance to carry them to the hospital!

In the meantime, Dr. Li made several more calls, urging the emergency center and asking them to send more ambulances — because it would take at least seven or eight ambulances to hold all these students!

In the time that followed, however, right up until the first class of the afternoon began, no more students were sent to the infirmary. It seemed this round of fainting had finally, for the time being, come to an end — which let both Wang Zhifeng and Dr. Li breathe a sigh of relief.

Ding Binggong arrived at the school almost simultaneously with the ambulances. The students were carried aboard one by one. Shen Yushu naturally refused to leave Gu Mengyao behind; she accompanied her all the way into the ambulance, and since Ding Binggong and Wang Zhifeng both knew Shen Yushu, they naturally did not stop her — instead, they boarded Gu Mengyao's ambulance along with her.

Dr. Li, meanwhile, stayed behind at the school aboard another ambulance that arrived moments later, holding the fort in case any other student was found unconscious and needed to be rushed to the hospital without delay.

"Yaoyao-jie, you have to hang in there!" Shen Yushu squeezed Gu Mengyao's hand, her eyes brimming with tears. She was beside herself with fright, dialing Wei Zhao's number over and over, yet he simply would not answer! For the first time, a flicker of resentment toward Brother Jianpai welled up in Shen Yushu's heart. RO
