Chapter 540 — The Great Discovery

"Xiaoshu, why do I have this strange feeling?" Gu Mengyao frowned. Something felt off, though she could not quite put her finger on it. In any case, Zhong Yongliang had been acting oddly all day.

"I've been feeling strange all along, Yao-yao. Why did you bring me here? It's no fun at all!" Shen Yushu scratched her head and frowned. "Yao-yao, you're not hoping to have a quick roll in the wild with Zhong Yongliang, are you?"

"Shut your mouth! As if!" Gu Mengyao went for Shen Yushu in a fury. "With him... doing that? I'd sooner die!"

"Oh! Then who do you want to do it with?" Shen Yushu asked.

"I want... I want nothing of the sort! I don't want it at all!" Gu Mengyao had nearly fallen into Shen Yushu's trap. "Xiaoshu, what is going on in that head of yours? Or is it you who's been thinking about it?"

"I'm just curious, it's not that I really want to!" Shen Yushu, caught out, showed no embarrassment at all; if anything, she grew more curious.

"Then wait for Wei Zhao to come back and try it with him!" Gu Mengyao said crossly.

"And you?" Shen Yushu asked.

"Me what?" Gu Mengyao was beside herself. Why did her best friend have to keep bringing up such nonsense? Was it some surplus of adolescent hormones?

"Are you going to try it or not?" Shen Yushu, utterly unbothered by Gu Mengyao's anger, pressed on.

"I'll try it with you, then!" Gu Mengyao was about to faint with rage.

"Oh, now I get it! Yao-yao, you really do like me — no wonder you get jealous the moment I mention Arrow-Brand Bro. You're a lesbian!" Shen Yushu said, as though a great truth had just dawned on her.

Gu Mengyao had nothing left to say. She knew Shen Yushu was only joking, and whether she explained or not made no difference; the more she explained, the angrier she would only become.

After a while, judging that the incense in the cave had reached about the right density, Gao Xiaofu nodded. Zhong Yongliang walked to the mouth of the cave and called out to Gu Mengyao and Shen Yushu: "Mengyao, a great discovery, a great discovery!"

Gu Mengyao looked up, drew a deep breath, and pressed down the anger Shen Yushu had stoked in her before asking: "What great discovery?"
