Chapter 445 — Wei Zhao Is Stunned
"Well... I don't think it's all that hard. Our leader has a soft heart—he won't respond to force, only to gentleness. And the facts bear it out: if you soften your tone a little, act a bit coy, I doubt the leader will have the heart to keep ignoring you," Kang Xiaofeng said after a moment's hesitation.
It was a little improper to be discussing one's own leader behind his back, but Feng Xiaoxiao really was pitiful. A girl who had transferred schools to come here for the person she loved, only to receive neither understanding nor praise from him—coldness instead. Kang Xiaofeng couldn't help but feel sorry for her, which was why he had said so much.
"Oh? Wei Zhao won't respond to force, only to gentleness?" Feng Xiaoxiao was taken aback by Kang Xiaofeng's words. Kang Xiaofeng was one of the people closest to Wei Zhao; if even he said so, then her earlier strategy had a problem?
It seemed that simply trying to make Wei Zhao look foolish, or to threaten him, not only failed to work but might even backfire! It seemed that if she wanted to make Wei Zhao submit, she really would have to change her plan.
"That's right. I think a girl ought to learn how to be coy. Look at you—you don't know how to be coy at all. How could the leader possibly like you?" Kang Xiaofeng said, as though it were the most natural thing in the world. "You should know, Sister-in-law Tang Zhi is no less than you—she's even a bit taller than you. If you really like the leader, then you have to be gentler!"
"Is that so..." Feng Xiaoxiao frowned slightly. Be gentler toward Wei Zhao? Be gentle toward a boy? What a joke—she was Feng Xiaoxiao! How could she possibly go fawning over a boy? If anyone found out, they'd laugh their teeth out.
No, absolutely not! Especially not acting coy—when had she ever been coy? She had never been coy in her life. How could she possibly manage it?
But... if she didn't do it, then Wei Zhao certainly wouldn't teach her to street race... Was street racing really that important? Feng Xiaoxiao felt rather at a loss. Her original reason for seeking out Wei Zhao was simply that he had ignored her once before, and she had felt indignant—a mere hanger-on, and he dared to be so cocky with her. Feng Xiaoxiao had been furious, so finding Wei Zhao had been entirely about venting her spleen; learning to street race from him was merely an incidental condition!
Feng Xiaoxiao had assumed that if she went to Wei Zhao to learn street racing, he surely wouldn't refuse. Instead, she discovered that Wei Zhao paid her no attention at all! That much she could tolerate—but what she could not bear was that Wei Zhao had actually poured urine all over her head, and tied firecrackers to her backside with a dead knot! He was trying to kill her! Feng Xiaoxiao truly could not endure it any longer. She wanted revenge! This was no longer simply about learning to street race—she hated Wei Zhao to the bone, and only if he paid some price could her fury be appeased.
In that case, Kang Xiaofeng's suggestion really did deserve consideration. The key was how to go about it!
Even if Feng Xiaoxiao were now to act coy toward Wei Zhao and get him to teach her street racing, that was a trivial matter in her eyes. Street racing or not no longer mattered—she had to make Wei Zhao pay.
That's right... Suddenly Feng Xiaoxiao's eyes lit up. Since Wei Zhao liked Tang Zhi, then she would really become the other woman and sabotage their relationship! Then she would make Wei Zhao fall in love with her, and then she would dump him... Heh heh, when Wei Zhao was in too deep to extricate himself, she would tell him the truth—he probably wouldn't even have time to cry, would he?
At this thought, Feng Xiaoxiao was filled with fighting spirit again. With her looks, was it so hard to take down Wei Zhao? No matter how good things were between him and Tang Zhi, they weren't in the same class. But she and Wei Zhao were not only in the same class, they were deskmates—with such a convenient advantage of proximity, if she still couldn't win this battle for love, then she really would be a failure!
Seeing Feng Xiaoxiao's expression shift from dark to bright—one moment joyful, the next petulant, then full of hope—Kang Xiaofeng assumed she had come around. "Anyway, I'm only telling you all this because I pity you. But don't you go sabotaging things between the leader and Tang Zhi!"
"I won't. I'll just quietly be good to him and pay attention to him from the sidelines. I don't need him to like me!" Feng Xiaoxiao nodded. "But you have to keep it secret for me!"
"Of course I can do that," Kang Xiaofeng said with a smile and a nod. He did rather sympathize with this girl, Feng Xiaoxiao.
When Wei Zhao arrived at Guan Xuewen's villa, he was surprised to find two police cars parked at the gate: one was Qiu Lingshan's civilian-plated police vehicle, and the other was the police car Yang Huaijun had driven when he came to pick Wei Zhao up from school last time.
Wei Zhao wasn't particularly surprised that Yang Huaijun was here, but Qiu Lingshan's presence did strike him as odd. Why had she come too?
He rang the villa's doorbell, and the one who opened the door was the nanny, Auntie Liu. She knew Wei Zhao and hurriedly invited him in, fetching him slippers. "Professor Guan is in the study. There are two guests—one is Mr. Yang, whom you know."
"Ah, I know. I'll go find them myself—I know the other one too," Wei Zhao said with a smile to Auntie Liu.
"All right, then." Hearing that Wei Zhao knew them both, Auntie Liu said no more and went off to attend to her own affairs.
Wei Zhao went to the study door and knocked. Guan Xuewen's voice came from inside: "Is that Xiaoyi? You got here that fast?"
"It's me!" Wei Zhao pushed the door open and nodded with a smile—only to be startled by a figure that rushed to meet him. He was about to dodge, but once he saw who it was, he could only smile wryly.
Yang Huaijun gave Wei Zhao a bear hug and burst out laughing. "Look how my body's doing now—what do you think?"
Wei Zhao rolled his eyes. "You won't die anytime soon, but if you want to get back to your former strength, you'll have to wait."
"I can still recover my strength?" Yang Huaijun was struck dumb for a moment at Wei Zhao's words, then a joy rose in him. "Ying... Wei Zhao, are you saying I can still recover the strength I once had?"
"When have I ever shot my mouth off?" Wei Zhao shrugged.
But before Yang Huaijun could speak, Qiu Lingshan, seated on the sofa, curled her lip in disdain and beat him to it: "He does it all the time!"
"You brain-dead girl, nobody would take you for a mute if you just kept quiet!" Wei Zhao was none too pleased at Qiu Lingshan's interruption and shot her a glare. "You'd better not come begging me for anything from now on! Just assume everything I ever promised you was me shooting my mouth off!"
"Brother Yang, look at him, he's bullying me!" Qiu Lingshan turned to Yang Huaijun with an aggrieved look, speaking in a pitiful, wounded voice.
"Huh?!" Wei Zhao was dumbstruck. Qiu Lingshan... had a little-girl side to her too?
