Chapter 418 — I Really Don't Dare to Lay a Hand on Him

The Blossom Guardian

"You just wait! If you've got guts, don't you run!" Zou Tiandi gave a cold snort, then pulled out his phone and started dialing. "Ruoguang, where are you? I'm over in the North District, on South Titanium Gold Road—somebody hit my car, and the little punk won't pay up. He even pounded on my car with his fists to scare me... Right, I'll wait for you. Hurry up!"

Wei Zhao frowned. Since this fellow was determined to make a scene, he supposed he might as well settle it. Wei Zhao took out his own phone and dialed Qiu Lingshan's number.

Qiu Lingshan was quite surprised to see Wei Zhao calling. She assumed he'd come up with a solution this quickly, and picked up with a note of delight in her voice: "Wei Zhao? You thought of something?"

"No. Someone drove the wrong way and hit me. Come take a look..." Wei Zhao said flatly.

"Hit you? Are you all right?" Qiu Lingshan was briefly taken aback. She needed a favor from Wei Zhao right now—if anything happened to him, the whole business of saving that person would fall through.

"I'm fine. The other guy wants to extort me, and he's calling in people to scare me," Wei Zhao said.

"You're coming to me with this? Can't you handle it yourself?" Hearing this, Qiu Lingshan felt both exasperated and amused. You're asking me about something like this? Aren't you supposed to be capable?

"Fine then. I'll smash up his car and then beat him up," Wei Zhao said.

"What?" Qiu Lingshan couldn't help but smile wryly. "All right, wait for me. I'm on my way..."

If Wei Zhao started hitting people and wrecking cars, he'd probably end up in a police station, and the one in trouble then might well be her. So Qiu Lingshan had no choice but to agree.

"South Titanium Gold Road," Wei Zhao said with a smile. "If the other guy's people get here before you do, I'll have no choice but to start throwing punches."

"All right, all right, I got it!" Qiu Lingshan snorted. Fearing Wei Zhao would go off and cause trouble for her, she reluctantly added one more line: "Don't do anything rash—this brain-dead girl is on her way..."

"Heh, good." Only now did Wei Zhao feel that Qiu Lingshan had a lovable side after all. This violent, brain-dead girl wasn't entirely without her merits.

"It's no use calling anyone, I'm telling you—you're dead today. If you don't cough up a hundred thousand yuan, don't even think about leaving!" Zou Tiandi jabbed a finger at Wei Zhao and threatened him smugly.

This was his brand-new BMW—he hadn't even been driving it half a month, and Wei Zhao had wrecked it, smashing the headlights to pieces. It broke his heart, so he absolutely had to make Wei Zhao pay a price before he'd be satisfied.

The roar of an engine cut through the air, accompanied by earth-shaking bass-heavy DJ music, as a motorcycle sped over and came to a stop between the BMW and the van.

Zou Tiandi was overjoyed. His son had arrived—the man who'd hit his car was finished, no question about it!

"Dad, what's going on? Who hit you?" Zou Ruoguang jumped off the motorcycle and declared with great swagger, "Someone hit your car and won't pay? I'll kill him!"

"It's this little bastard right here. First give him a beating for me, then smash up his car and make him fork over a hundred thousand yuan!" Zou Tiandi ordered coldly, pointing at Wei Zhao.

Zou Tiandi was nearly mad with rage. His shiny new BMW, with its cool custom plate, had been ruined just like that by this punk in the van. If he didn't teach him a lesson, the fury in his heart would never settle.

Besides, Zou Tiandi had been in a foul mood these past couple of days. He'd had his eye on a young woman at the company, and just when he was about to succeed, her boyfriend had shown up out of nowhere and ruined everything.

"Who? You mean this... huh?" Zou Ruoguang was about to put on a grand show of teaching the van driver a lesson, but when he turned his head and saw Wei Zhao, he was instantly dumbstruck.

Zou Ruoguang had sharper eyes than his old man. Zou Tiandi hadn't recognized Wei Zhao, but Zou Ruoguang spotted him at a glance: "Why... why is it you?"

Before Wei Zhao could answer, Zou Ruoguang hurriedly turned and grabbed his father by the arm, pulling him off to one side, and whispered, "Dad, why did you go and provoke him again? I'm trying to avoid him and can't even manage it, and now you've stirred him up—aren't you just asking for trouble?"

"Who? You know this kid?" Zou Tiandi was stunned. Even the several lackeys who'd come along with Zou Ruoguang were taken aback, not understanding why Zou Ruoguang would say such a thing.

"Isn't he the very man who threw you out of that hospital room?" Zou Ruoming said with a bitter smile. "Dad, just apologize and be done with it. Don't stir up this trouble—this kid is no ordinary sort!"

"Apologize? How could I possibly do that? I refuse to believe his two fists can beat so many of us. You have all these men with you—what is there to fear?" Zou Tiandi frowned. He was, after all, a man of some renown. To have his car struck in the street and then be forced to make amends to a mere whelp—if word of that got out, where would his face be? How could he bear the humiliation?

"Then find someone else, Dad. I'm not ready to die just yet!" Zou Ruoming shook his head vigorously. Last time, Wei Zhao had left him with a psychological scar; he simply could not summon the slightest thought of opposing Wei Zhao.

"You useless mud that won't hold up a wall!" Zou Tiandi snorted coldly. "Even your younger brother has more guts than you. Next time I'll have him bring men to deal with this brat!"

"..." Zou Ruoming lowered his head and said nothing. He truly did not dare to lay a hand on Wei Zhao—not as a pretense, but in genuine fear—so no matter what Zou Tiandi said, he pretended not to hear.

"Worthless!" Zou Tiandi was beside himself with fury. He was about to say more when the sound of a police siren rose in the distance. A police car came racing up and screeched to a halt beside Zou Tiandi's BMW, its lights flashing.

Qiu Lingshan saw that everyone present was alive and well and let out a breath of relief. She had rushed all this way, running red lights the entire time, fearing that Wei Zhao might have stirred up some trouble for her! Thankfully, it appeared Wei Zhao had not laid a hand on anyone.

"All of you, back to the station with me!" Qiu Lingshan's heart had been in her throat the whole way, so her temper was naturally short. She jabbed a finger at Zou Tiandi, Wei Zhao, and the others.

Zou Tiandi had not expected a cop to appear out of nowhere and frowned at once. No one on his side had called the police—so why was there an officer here? A patrol passing by? What a busybody!

"Now listen here, young comrade, I have friends on the force too. There's nothing for you to do here—we can settle this ourselves!" Zou Tiandi waved his hand at Qiu Lingshan with an air of importance. In his eyes, Qiu Lingshan was young and a female officer besides, certainly nothing more than a freshly graduated intern, so he paid her little mind.

She was quite pretty, and her figure was absolutely fiery... but Zou Tiandi was not foolish enough to stoop to harassing a policewoman. He had no wish to eat prison fare in a detention center.

"Are you coming or not?" Qiu Lingshan ignored what Zou Tiandi was saying and asked him point-blank.
