Chapter 330 — Better Never to See You Again
"Open your clothes? What are you thinking about?" Wei Zhao glared at the dazed, blank-faced cool chick and snapped at her.
"T-take off my clothes... still?" Yang Qiqi's words came out jumbled.
"Just bare your shoulder, that's all." Wei Zhao frowned. "Anyway, I've already seen what there was to see last time. I've got no interest in people who spend all day trying to repay kindness with murder."
"As if I care!" A flicker of annoyance crossed Yang Qiqi's cool little face, but she still pulled her collar down, revealing a shoulder white as snow... On that shoulder was a bloody hole, glaringly conspicuous — the mark of a bullet's entry.
"Save the nonsense!" Wei Zhao glanced at the cool chick's shoulder, lightly scored it with his dagger, then flicked — and a bullethead flew out, landing on the car seat.
Wei Zhao fished the powdered herbs he had prepared himself from his pocket, sprinkled them over the cool chick's wound, and said, "Don't put your clothes back on yet. It'll be better in a moment."
"Oh..." Last time, under Wei Zhao's care, her wound had miraculously healed fast — by that very night it had scabbed over and new flesh had grown in. So Yang Qiqi had complete faith in his methods.
And there was one crucial point besides: no scars were left behind, which Yang Qiqi found simply amazing. Though she was an assassin and getting hurt was an everyday matter, she was still a girl in the end, and girls always cared about scars on their skin. Once Wei Zhao sprinkled on this herbal powder, it seemed no scars would remain.
This powdered herb was something Wei Zhao prepared for himself; every time he went on a mission he would carry a little for emergencies. This mission, though, had promised no real danger, and he had thought he would not need it — in the end, it went to the cool chick.
After tending to the wound on the cool chick's shoulder, Wei Zhao turned to look at her calf. Yang Qiqi had already rolled up the trouser leg.
As before, Wei Zhao made a neat cut and a flick, and the bullethead flew out. He quickly sprinkled on the powdered herbs, and the bleeding stopped.
"There. Don't do anything this dangerous anymore — you're not cut out to be an assassin!" Wei Zhao said to the cool chick with earnest gravity. "Sure, you're cool, you look like a little assassin, but assassins are usually anything but cool. Look at me..."
"You..." Yang Qiqi stared at him wide-eyed. Weren't all assassins cool...? Even at home, Mother was always cool, always cold — only when she looked at Father did a smile appear on her face...
"All right, I'll take you back. The Kenhe Hotel, right? You give the directions." Wei Zhao gave Yang Qiqi no chance to keep talking; he turned, settled into the driver's seat, and started the car.
"Go straight from here... then turn right..." Yang Qiqi had no choice but to direct Wei Zhao, her cool little face written all over with gloom... Was she really not cut out to be an assassin? It had to be this big liar talking nonsense... Yes, that was it — he was surely afraid she would grow stronger and come to kill him one day! Hmph, it had to be that. Wei Zhao, just you wait — sooner or later I'll surpass you...
"At least you can remember the route — that much qualifies you as an assassin." Wei Zhao rarely praised the cool chick, and Yang Qiqi was about to cheer in delight when she heard him add: "But you're better suited to being a tour guide or driving a taxi!"
"You..." Yang Qiqi was furious. After all that talk, wasn't he just saying she was an unqualified assassin? Hmph — had he never failed a mission himself?
"Hey, what were you doing there tonight? Haven't you ever failed a mission?" Yang Qiqi asked, unwilling to concede.
"Went to bring someone out. You've already seen the person." Wei Zhao did not hide it. "As for failure — sorry, I really would like to know what failure tastes like."
"Bragging!" A trace of doubt flitted across Yang Qiqi's face. "Hey, that herbal stuff of yours works pretty well. Could you give me some?"
"Are you the one who tried to kill me today?" Wei Zhao looked at the cool chick with some amusement, his tone teasing.
"Then can I buy it with money? How much is it? I'll pay you..." Yang Qiqi felt a little embarrassed at his question.
"I made this myself. It's priceless." Wei Zhao glanced at the cool chick and said, "But for the sake of that ring on your hand, I'll give you the remaining half bottle."
Wei Zhao tossed the half bottle of powdered herbs from his pocket to the cool chick.
"Thank you..." Yang Qiqi was rather delighted. Wei Zhao was actually right — this really was a priceless treasure!
"Don't go thinking that medicine means you can get yourself hurt whenever you please. You'd best stay put at home and behave. The life of an assassin doesn't suit you." Wei Zhao got out first and bought a set of women's casual clothes from a convenience store beside the hotel, then came back and handed them to the cool chick...
Hearing Wei Zhao's jab at her, Yang Qiqi wanted to fire back a couple of shots of her own, but then she saw him get out of the car, and there was no one left to curse at. She had no idea what Wei Zhao had gone off to do, and she was stewing in her anger when she saw that he had already returned.
"Put these on, then go up by yourself," Wei Zhao said.
Yang Qiqi had meant to give Wei Zhao a good dressing-down, but when she saw how thoroughly he had thought things through, even buying clothes for her, wave after wave of gratitude welled up in her heart, and the words sitting in her throat simply would not come out.
"I... I'm off. Goodbye..." Yang Qiqi got out of the car and found that the wound on her leg no longer hurt. It seemed Wei Zhao's herbal powder really was effective.
"Best we never meet again. If you're dying next time, I won't save you — nothing but trouble." Wei Zhao waved his hand in some exasperation, started the car, and sped off in a cloud of dust.
Yang Qiqi was so furious she stamped her foot. So high and mighty... But the stamp pulled at her wound, and the pain nearly made her cry out. Not daring to stamp again, she hurried carefully back to the hotel...
What Yang Qiqi found rather strange was: where had Tombstone Grandpa gone? Had he not said he would be waiting for her at the Water Blue Gang headquarters entrance? Why had she not seen him when she came out? And what was more, when Wei Zhao carried her off into the car, why had Tombstone Grandpa not stopped him?
In fact, Yang Qiqi had wronged Tombstone... Tombstone had been waiting at the entrance of the repair shop the whole time. Seeing that something was wrong, he was about to charge in, but then he saw Wei Zhao come running out first with Yang Qiqi clamped under his arm...
Only after confirming that the man carrying the young lady away was indeed Wei Zhao did Tombstone set his mind at ease and return to the hotel... After all, Wei Zhao was the organization leader's prized disciple. With him there, what did Tombstone have to worry about?
It was just that the young lady did not seem to recognize him? But then, thinking about it... the two had only been in contact at the age of four or five, and had been separated by the time they were seven or eight. It was only natural she would not remember. He himself had only come to know the present-day Wei Zhao after reading the later files.
