Chapter 151 — You're Not Allowed to Drink

The Blossom Guardian

Wei Zhao stretched lazily. Times being what they were, two young women heading out late at night—though neither had said a word about bringing him along—he could hardly pretend not to notice. He would follow at a distance.

At that thought, Wei Zhao made to take off his school uniform and change. His No. 1 Middle School uniform was far too conspicuous; heading out at this hour, he would surely draw attention, and if Gu Mengyao caught on, that would be awkward.

He dug out a casual outfit he had bought new at a street stall over the weekend, stripped off his school clothes entirely until he stood in nothing but his underwear, and was just about to dress when the door was pushed open. Shen Yushu had never imagined Wei Zhao would be standing naked in the room, and she nearly screamed with fright. Luckily she was quick—one hand flew to cover her mouth, the other to cover her eyes, though she was peeking at Wei Zhao's physique through the gaps between her fingers. Not bad at all—real abs, even... Well, she had already seen everything below his waist anyway, so another look hardly mattered, she consoled herself. Still, she mustn't let Wei Zhao catch her peeking, so keeping her eyes covered was necessary.

"You—how did you get in?" Wei Zhao was startled too. He had been changing, and the door had simply swung open. If he hadn't known there was no danger in this villa, he would have kicked out the moment the door opened.

He hurriedly grabbed a pair of pants and held them up in front of himself. Wei Zhao might have a thick skin, but being stared at like that by Shen Yushu was still embarrassing.

"Of course I came looking for you for something!" Shen Yushu said, her face red. "Hurry up and put your pants on—streaking, in the house?"

"No, I'm not—I saw you two were going out, so I figured I'd change and follow along from a distance." Wei Zhao didn't hide it from Shen Yushu. The girl might sometimes relish a little chaos, but more often than not she knew right from wrong and wouldn't do anything reckless.

"Huh? You knew we were going out?" Shen Yushu was surprised enough to lower the hand shielding her eyes—but Wei Zhao had already pulled his pants on quickly, though he was still bare-chested.

Even so, it was mortifying. Curious as Shen Yushu was, she was too embarrassed to look any longer... She thought to herself: well, once Sister Yao Yao marries him, I can look all I want. Hee hee, ha ha...

"I overheard some of what you two were saying." Wei Zhao nodded, grabbed a cheap T-shirt, and pulled it on. He really did have too few clothes—he ought to buy a few more when he had the chance.

"Oh, in that case, I won't explain further!" Shen Yushu said, and handed him a set of keys. "Here—these are the keys to my villa's garage, and this is my car key. Sister Yao Yao will definitely be driving in a bit. If you don't have a car, what did you think—that you're Superman and can keep up on foot?"

"Oh? All right, thanks." Wei Zhao hadn't expected Shen Yushu to give him her car keys.

"I'm just afraid Sister Yao Yao will go crazy and head somewhere dangerous..." Shen Yushu said a little sheepishly. "When that happens, you'll have to play the muscle!"

"..." Wei Zhao broke out in a sweat. So the girl was still in it for the excitement—afraid she'd have nowhere to put her talents to use...

"I'm off, then. Sister Yao Yao is looking for clothes; I slipped out while she was distracted. You go get the car first!" With that, Shen Yushu left the room.

By now Wei Zhao was dressed. Holding the keys Shen Yushu had given him, he hurried out of the villa and strode quickly toward Shen Yushu's place. Her villa was easy to recognize—it sat directly across from Gu Mengyao's, with only a single street between them.

He opened the outer iron gate and found Shen Yushu's garage. Parked inside was actually a yellow Beetle... Wei Zhao smiled wryly and rubbed his nose. It was a rather feminine car. Men drove them too, but the color was awfully bright.

Wei Zhao opened the door and got in, drove the car out of Shen Yushu's villa, and parked at the roadside. If he were to drive straight out of the villa later, it might rouse Gu Mengyao's suspicion, but out on the street it didn't matter—there were plenty of identical cars, and at this hour Gu Mengyao was hardly likely to scrutinize license plates.

He switched off the headlights and waited quietly for Gu Mengyao's car to emerge.

After a while, Gu Mengyao's Audi S5 rolled slowly out of the villa. As it turned the corner, the driver honked once, as if deliberately signaling to Wei Zhao.

Wei Zhao was briefly taken aback, then understood—it was probably Shen Yushu driving, and she was giving him a heads-up.

Wei Zhao switched on his headlights, started the car, and followed slowly. Since Shen Yushu was driving, he felt all the more at ease. Normally it was the driver who paid attention to the road; passengers rarely looked back and forth, so he wasn't worried about Gu Mengyao noticing she was being tailed.

Wei Zhao had guessed right—it really was Shen Yushu driving. Pleading that Gu Mengyao was in a bad mood, she had volunteered to play chauffeur this once, which had rather astonished Gu Mengyao.

Shen Yushu liked driving least of all—except, of course, for racing. In her view, cars simply couldn't get up any speed on city roads; the endless stop-and-go was maddening.

After several rounds of coaxing and a few calls of "Sister Yao Yao," Gu Mengyao reluctantly agreed to let her be the driver—as for Shen Yushu's own Beetle, it could sit in the garage half a year and barely manage to be driven out once.

"Yao Yao, where are we going?" Shen Yushu glanced at the rearview mirror, saw her yellow Beetle following behind, and relaxed.

In the past, whenever the two of them went out, no matter how late it was, Uncle Qing would tag along. But after Wei Zhao arrived, apart from driving them to school and seeing to their meals, everything else had fallen to Wei Zhao.

Shen Yushu had been a little puzzled at first, but after the bank incident she realized that Wei Zhao really did have some skill—and not just at teaching small-time thugs a lesson.

So this time, when they went out, they had called Wei Zhao along. Shen Yushu was no fool; the two of them had been named the school's beauties, and she knew well enough what they looked like. Their backgrounds were formidable, true, but outsiders did not know that, did they? So it was safer to bring Arrow-Badge Bro along.

"Let's go to a bar, shall we? I want a drink. You?" Gu Mengyao was in a foul mood, gazing at the night view outside the window.

"I want one too." Shen Yushu nodded excitedly. "I've never had a drink before." With Uncle Qing always following in the past, she really had not dared to; this time she could drink her fill! "Oh, wonderful!"

With Uncle Qing around, Gu Mengyao and Shen Yushu were naturally much better behaved and could not possibly do anything too outrageous. After all, Uncle Qing was Gu Pengzhan's trusted confidant and could report on their doings at any moment.

"Xiao Shu, you can't. You can only have juice." Gu Mengyao pointed at the steering wheel. "If you drink, who's going to drive?"
