Chapter 650 — Descending into the Mythic Era

The Beast-Taming Craftsman Page 3 of 3

Sensing the intruders, the Sakura Divine Dragon was startled on the spot—though it quickly realized these were no enemies...

"Little Sakura, Little Sakura." As a familiar voice reached it, the Sakura Divine Dragon looked toward the small pink sprite flying in and said in surprise, "So it's you. I was wondering who could break in here."

"It's been so long!!" Qi gazed at the Sakura Divine Dragon in delight—never had it imagined there would be another day of reunion.

"Wait, who is he?" The Sakura Divine Dragon suddenly noticed Shi Jin, who had come along with Qi, and instantly went on guard once more.

It was profoundly shaken: just now—even now—it had sensed not the slightest trace of aura from Shi Jin. Though Shi Jin stood right before its eyes, though it saw him with its own eyes, still it felt no aura at all.

"Little Sakura, don't be nervous. He is my... um..."

Qi did not know how to put it, because in this present Blue Star there were no humans at all, and no such profession as beastmaster existed.

"He is my most important companion," Qi said. "Hello. My name is Shi Jin," Shi Jin said, stepping forward.

"Really?" The Sakura Divine Dragon eyed Shi Jin strangely, unable to believe he could win such trust from Qi. "Forget it, it doesn't matter. Qi, how many times have I told you—don't use your ability to go barging into all sorts of strange places. This is my war-preparation secret realm; wandering in here so casually could easily land you in trouble."

"And do you even know the current situation? How dare you still run about everywhere? The star-devouring insects are hunting rare species all over. You ought to find somewhere safe and hide."

"You'd best leave this place quickly. War is about to break out here, and on a colossal scale at that. Lord Ancestral Dragon has even made ready to die in battle."

"It's that Evil God who's coming to attack..."

"Don't worry!" Qi patted its chest. "Haven't you noticed any change in me?"

"Your chest got smaller," said the Sakura Divine Dragon.

Qi: ?

Shi Jin: ?

"Your ability—it's advanced again?" asked the Sakura Divine Dragon.

Each time the Time Sprite's power of temporal travel rose by a rank, the Time Sprite's body shrank somewhat. Others might not know this, but as one of Qi's few friends, the Sakura Divine Dragon knew it perfectly well.

"That's right," Qi said.

"I won't flee with you," the Sakura Divine Dragon said, shaking its head. "I still have to guard Shenyuan. Running away solves nothing. Behind me lie countless billions of ocean lives, and the tragedy of the western waters must not be allowed to happen here..."

"Who said anything about fleeing!!" Qi stamped its feet in the air angrily. "What I mean is, I've come to help you too—to drive the enemy off together."

"Don't joke around," said the Sakura Divine Dragon. "Just go, quickly..."

As one of Qi's friends, how could it not know that this little Qi before it was terribly timid?

Possessing no combat power of its own, the moment danger appeared, Qi would bolt like a frightened creature.

And now... the opponent was the Abyssal Evil God, whom none on Blue Star could rival. This affair had nothing to do with Qi to begin with; sending Qi away was plainly the right choice.

"Heh heh..." Qi said. "Little Sakura, do you even grasp the value of unscientific beastmastering...!"

"Huh? Scientific?" The Sakura Divine Dragon was baffled.

"Ahem." Shi Jin gave a dry cough at the side. Don't go giving my training methods nicknames at the drop of a hat—I'm a proper beastmaster.

"You two, enough chatter. The enemy is here." Shi Li.

The Sakura Divine Dragon's eyes went wide: !! Rumble!!!

The war-preparation secret realm quaked.

Within the realm, countless Dragon Palace officers and men summoned one hundred and twenty percent of their focus—yet their trembling bodies betrayed their terror.

"ROAR!!!" The pink-scaled divine dragon paid Qi and Shi Jin no more mind; there was no time for that now. The pressing matter was to stop and repel the Abyssal invasion.

As for Qi... even were the Ancestral Dragon to fall in battle, she might well come to no harm. "So fragile!"

Meanwhile, elsewhere.

Bu Lu gathered stone clubs through his mastery of earth, striking down one after another the star-devouring insects that had hunted the Wind Qilin clan.

Every star-devouring insect he slew had been born of the Insect Empress; between the two sides ran a close bloodline bond.

With the death of these Zerg, the Zerg Queen, far away on the moon beyond Blue Star, woke straight out of her egg-laying state.

Her offspring hunted rare species on Blue Star and carried them to the moon; she devoured them and gave birth to new Zerg, and those Zerg were then thrown into battle. Such was her way of waging war.

Ordinarily, against a small planet like this, the combat strength of her offspring alone would have been more than enough. But this time, sensing that within a single Shi Yun interval a vast number of her offspring and descendants had suddenly perished, the Zerg Queen was jolted awake. "A Cosmic

Behemoth?"

"How could a second Cosmic Behemoth appear on this planet?"

"Damn it. First the Abyss race, then a Cosmic Behemoth. Don't tell me word of the Spirit of Time's presence on this planet has been completely exposed. No. I have to go and see for myself. I can no longer hold back for fear of them."
