Chapter 391 — Teaching Him a Lesson

Years of Heartflutter

"Huh?" Xiao Wang blinked, at a loss as to what Yang Yanzhou meant. "Sir... is there anything else you need?"

"Need, not exactly," Yang Yanzhou said. "Does this plane have a satellite phone?"

"Yes, sir..." Xiao Wang nodded, wondering what Yang Ce was up to, why he'd suddenly asked about a satellite phone.

"Here's the thing—take me to the phone, and we'll talk on the way." Yang Yanzhou undid his seatbelt and rose to his feet.

"That... all right!" Xiao Wang shot Zhang Baogong a glance that said *aren't you leaving yet?*, then led Yang Ce off to use the satellite phone.

Zhang Baogong threw Yang Puqi a venomous look and muttered under his breath, "Damn it, consider yourself lucky, you little punk. But you just wait—I'm not letting this go. Once you land in Donghai, I'll make sure you never set foot outside that airport!"

As a spoiled rich kid, Zhang Baogong knew plenty of shady connections in Donghai. His plan was simple: in a little while he'd round up some muscle to wait at the Donghai airport gate for Yang Ce, and make him pay for what had just happened.

"Is that so?" Yang Xutang gave a faint smile, a trace of mockery and contempt on his face. "Then let's see who it is that won't be leaving the airport."

"Hey!" Zhang Baogong only grew more fired up at Yang Juehuan's words. "Fine, let's see! I don't mind telling you, I've got people at that airport! My people can get in—yours can't! My uncle—my aunt's husband—is the deputy general manager of Donghai Airport. Hahahaha, what do you think of that? Scared yet?"

"Oh, I hope your uncle doesn't get dragged into this." Yang Minlan nodded at him, then followed Xiao Wang off to make the call.

"Keep pretending, go on, keep pretending—you'll get yours soon enough!" Seeing how calm Yang Ce was, Zhang Baogong was so furious he rolled his eyes. He figured that once Yang Ce finished his call, he'd contact his uncle himself.

"Sir, don't stoop to Zhang Baogong's level. The kid's just got a few connections at home, and it's made him arrogant," Xiao Wang said apologetically to Yang Ce. He hadn't expected that even now, instead of thinking about apologizing, Zhang Baogong would keep right on threatening Yang Ce.

"Is that so?" Yang Ce gave a cold snort, produced a credential booklet, and handed it to Xiao Wang. "This is my identification. I've just finished a mission and am on my way back. I now suspect that this flight attendant of yours is connected to a foreign intelligence agency and is attempting to do me harm. So in a moment, you'll restrain him first. I'll make a call, and my people will take him away at the airport!"

Xiao Wang took Yang Juehuan's credential, and his expression changed—it was a military ID. Though Xiao Wang wasn't familiar with the finer details of the military, if Yang Ce said he'd just returned from a mission, then he must belong to some special department...

So it seemed Zhang Baogong really had kicked an iron plate today—he'd done something utterly foolish!

"All right, I'll cooperate. But we can only restrain him until we land—once we're off the plane, there's nothing we can do..." Xiao Wang still knew how to tell what mattered. Though he didn't believe Zhang Baogong was any kind of spy, the fact remained that he had attacked Yang Juehuan. Yang Cenbin's suspicion, though partly vindictive, wasn't unreasonable.

Everything was Zhang Baogong's own doing; no one else was to blame.

"Ha, that'll be enough." Yang Yuting nodded and began dialing. He explained what had happened on the plane to Xia Yan and asked him to send people to take Zhang Baogong away.

Yang Shuoxuan didn't embellish or exaggerate—he simply gave a brief, truthful account of everything that had happened here. In truth, Yang Shuoxuan didn't want to convict Zhang Baogong or anything of the sort; he just wanted to teach him a lesson.

Let him be locked up for a few days, cure him of some of his arrogance, and make sure he stopped harassing Huang Yan.

Xia Yan, of course, understood this. He too could tell that Yang Ce didn't really want to do anything drastic to Zhang Baogong—only to have the man investigated to see whether there was anything wrong with him. In other words, Yang Ce merely wanted to teach Zhang Baogong a lesson.

Xiao Wang sighed inwardly. And Zhang Baogong was still going on about rounding up his underworld cronies, still swearing up and down that Yang Juehuan's people couldn't get into the airport... The man was military—what would be hard about getting into an airport?

Zhang Baogong had better pray for himself. Yang Shuoxuan, in his great mercy, merely wanted to let you learn your lesson. But if you really bring those shady characters from the streets to go head-to-head with Yan, the outcome is easy enough to imagine.

By the time Yang Ce returned to his seat, Zhang Baogong was gone. But Yang Shuoxuan had no interest in going to look for him—the plane was still in the air; there was no fear of him running off.

"Yang Ce, everything all right?" Huang Yan asked.

"Nothing to worry about. Though Zhang Baogong will have his hands full soon enough." Yang Hengye smiled. "Let's hope the kid learns his lesson this time and settles down a bit."

Huang Yan sighed. "Maybe... maybe I should just resign..."

"No need to go that far. You like this job, so keep doing it. I imagine after this, Zhang Baogong won't be bothering you anymore," Yang Yanzhou said.

The plane descended slowly onto the runway of Donghai International Airport. Yang Ce and Huang Yan sat together, and no one disturbed them the rest of the way. There was, however, a visit from a co-pilot who came to explain Zhang Baogong's situation and to ask Yang Ce to handle matters discreetly, not to drag the flight into it.

But seeing how warmly Huang Yan and Yan were chatting, the co-pilot relaxed—Yang Ce was only targeting Zhang Baogong personally and wouldn't hold the whole crew responsible.

That evening, Yang Ce didn't head straight back to Songjiang; instead, he stayed in Donghai with Huang Yan. Donghai had a Douglas Hotel too, though it had by now become Yang Juehuan's property and been renamed the Songjiang International Hotel.

The staff here didn't recognize Yang Ce. In any case, he and Huang Yan had come out to book a room discreetly, so he simply took a standard double room and checked in with Huang Yan.

Early the next morning, Huang Yan returned to the airport, while Yang Ce headed back to Songjiang. As for Zhang Baogong, he'd probably be taken away for a few days of investigation and then released once it was clear there was no problem—after all, Yang Shuoxuan wasn't the sort to abuse his position for personal revenge.

Yang Ce returned to Songjiang quietly and put the matter of Lan Ling to the back of his mind for the time being. One way or another, he'd make a trip to Yunnan before long to settle the business of the Right Elder of Yunnan; by then, he should be able to see Lan Ling.

"Mengyan, I'm back in Songjiang." Yang Ce called Chen Shutang.

Chen Shutang was in class, but when she saw Yang Juehuan's name on the caller ID, she picked up anyway. "Yang Ce, where are you now?"

"On my way home," Yang Yanzhou said.

"Hmm... why don't you come to the school? We could have lunch together?" Chen Shutang asked after a moment's hesitation.

"All right, I'll come pick you up at school," Yang Yanzhou said.
