Chapter 342 — A Chance Encounter on the Road

A chime came from the induction cooker in the kitchen. Chen Shutang rose to see to the preserves, and Yang Ce and Lin Yanhe followed to help. At some point Chen Shutang and the others had bought a pile of small lock-top plastic containers—one by one, so convenient for storing food, and they sealed well too.

The next morning, Yang Ce first dropped Lin Yanhe and Chen Shutang off at school, then waited downstairs at Jing Yu's dormitory for Jing Yu to come down so they could go to the company together.

Jing Yu was more or less on time. Before she could even speak, Yang Ce switched places with her and put her in the driver's seat. Jing Yu did not decline and simply drove the car toward the company.

"You dressed up on purpose?" Yang Ce glanced at Jing Yu beside him and could see something was different. After being scolded by Yang Ce, Jing Yu generally went bare-faced, but today she had carefully done her makeup, and her skin looked all the more dewy. Her lashes had been carefully curled, and her hair had clearly been combed with care.

"So you do pay attention to me," Jing Yu could not help saying smugly.

Yang Ce cleared his throat. "Nonsense. There's the scent of cosmetics on your face—at this distance, of course I can smell it."

Jing Yu shot him an indignant glare and huffed, "I was just thinking, today you're all going to stand up for me—I had to make myself a little prettier, I can't let you lose face!"

"It's not as if you're going up on stage to give a speech," Yang Ce said with a shrug. But then he thought that today they would probably announce the appointment, and Jing Yu would become the center of attention, so dressing up a bit was fine after all, and he said nothing more.

Jing Yu stuck out her tongue and was about to say something when she suddenly pointed at something not far ahead and exclaimed in surprise:
